Your Dream Project Natal Game

I was talking to some friends about Natal and what sort of games could come come out on the device and I realised that my own personal dream game is possible since Natal will have voice recognition software.

UK Members might know of a childrens TV show from 1987-1993 if I remember right called Knightmare, that was a little like a D&D type interactive show, which this clip will explain better then I can...

Knightmare Clip (2:45 it gets really good with the corridor of blades and 2:58 well were talking millimeters from death)

Hopefully you get the idea and there are other great clips but back on point and I loved this show growing up and would love the idea of a voice controlled game using Natal, the Milo thing already shown they can create a working AI that responds to voice command.

So anyone else looking forward to Natal, what sort of game do you want to see be created for it?

Wow, I remember Knightmare from when I was a kid, loved that show!

I think my dream project natal game would be something like Oblivion, where the NPC's could actually react to me. So um... I guess something kinda like Knightmare!

I'll end up getting Natal even though I think it will be Gimmicky and the games will be lame.
I think it will get a good pop when it first comes out but I also think it will be an unsupported add on within a year or so of it's release (which is in October BTW).

I think it will get a good pop when it first comes out

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think I will be.

I want to take a wait and see approach. M$ is pushing it as the next gen technology and throwing their support behind it so lets just see how creative they get with the games...

I'll pick up Natal when it comes out (I'll be in the States by then anyway so it'll be easier to make use of a 360). I don't really care how well it's supported or what the games are like, for sub-$100, all I'm looking for is a bit of a change of pace.

No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to muster up any enthusiasm, or interest, for Natal. The video demo makes it look cheap and gimmicky, and I can't see how it will be relevant to everyday gaming - the CODs, the FIFAs, the Fallouts...etc. It seems like it will just be an excuse for MS to release a bunch of Wii-inspired specialist games, that won't really have much of an impact beyond novelty value. They'll have to come up with something really special to make this interesting.

All just my opinion, of course.

The problem here is that stupid mocked up thing they did with the animated character talking and interacting with that person in real time, she even uses a real object which is then transferred to the computer world and all supposedly via Natal.....they went way to far with that and that's what people will be expecting, when they get a a fancy vision cam with better response times they wont be happy.

^ It depends on what you mean by mocked up. It was scripted, but it's not like the technology isn't capable of that.

As with any new peripheral technology, it's up to the developers to take advantage of it. I'm really hoping that the extension of this console cycle will prompt gamers to pick up Sony's Motion Controller and Natal, because only with the right penetration will developers feel inclined to take the risk of creating compelling experiences around them.

That said, I imagine Sony and Microsoft's first part studios will be working hard on games that bring out the best of both technologies.

That's the word i was looking for, scripted, now if it actually can do everything they demonstrated in that scripted video with Milo then i will be very very impressed, i mean that's what they were pushing with that video, however it was a bit of a step back i thought when we went from Milo to that hitting balls demonstration game, which was similar to stuff i had seen before on consoles.

I hope it truly is as innovated as they have pushed it to be, i would love that type of interactivity in games and would drop cash on Natal without a second thought, but i certainly wont be dropping cash on giving the 360 wiii capabilities.....not that there is anything wrong with the wii and what it does, but its not for me personally, just to much like exercise.
