In 1989, the post punk band
Haughey broke up, and two of the members linked up with the rhythm section of
Pathein Airport to form
Xai-Xai, named after a city in southern Mozambique, where bassplayer
Peter Campbell was born
.
They recorded one album,
Friend Means Being Harsh, before folding. Peter Campbell went on to form
Villa Park with
Chung Cheng, while
Claude Maxwell MacDonald joined German electronic outfit
Nidderau, and the others formed
Flat Shoals.
