If you've been online long enough, floating from site to site in that horrifying and ever-changing miasma of nerdliness we call the treksphere, then odds are you recall the wonderful old website "You Can't Do That On Star Trek!", the site that tried to do Trek photoshopping before photoshopping was mainstream... or good.
I know, when I was nine, hanging around Mom's office at school to use her crazy fast 56k modem, YCDTOST was a major focus of my day (along with Decipher.com's Star Trek CCG "dream cards" section). My sister and I spent quite a few hours browsing the images, laughing at half-understood Netscape and Quantum Leap jokes. We quote the Swedish Chef-of-Borg image to this day. ("You vill bee essemilated by the Bork Bork Bork!") I was terribly bummed when I tried to find it again about four years ago, only to find that it had folded in 2001. (This was the same day I found out that Star Trek In Sound and Vision had gone down, so it was just a bad day all around.)
But I just discovered that there's a reasonably complete save state of YCDTOST in the Internet Archive. The humor is certainly a lot more juvenile--not to mention stupid--than I remember it being, but it was still a nice bit of nostalgia for me, and, in case there were any other old-time readers of "You Can't Do That On Star Trek!" hanging around here... I thought I'd share the link with you.
