wtf? Trek F14 Tomcat

Yeah, he seems well pleased with it. It's just a slightly squared off F-14 with thrusters and a paintjob to us, but it's what he asked for so he's got his wish. I do love the F14, it's a beauty to begin with, but turning it into a Starfleet F14 is a bitch.

I dig those Canadian colours!

Seriously though, I do like the colour scheme. Everything seems well thought out.

I am thinking it would have looked less obvious with a redisgned nose, da?

But that is not in ze request, non?

Now its super awesome with that paint job and with that NCC-# im to assume its for a 2300 to 2320 starfleet ship? :)

No clue, to be honest, but that's sort of what I aimed for. I was just told the character in the RPG wanted to have a personal fighter designed to look like an old F14 fighter. I stuck it on my website so anyone can hack it to bits now.

I've always wanted to take the design of the F14 Tomcat and add some nacelles to the wing and alter it into a capital sized warship. I've just always though the general F14 shape would make for a perfect starship with a deflector dish at the front etc.

Sadly I do not have the ability.

You cant, I wont. Doing it as a fighter was hard enough, scaling it to capital ship size would just make you bleed from the ears. Anyway the incongruity of the scale conflict would make your eyes water; it's a fighter, it's a HUGE fighter, no it's a capital ship shaped like a fighter, no it's... Besides, what do you do with the cockpit and the tail fins and so forth? Keep them but put windows in them or something? Again it would look like an F14 with spots on. No siree, not for me.

Just to finish this thread off, I knocked up a simple animation in 20 minutes to see how the thing looked in the air and swinging the wings.

When I say 20 minutes, it took 20 mins to set up the animation. Actual rendering time was around 10 hours, so I do this sort of throwaway stuff overnight.

Just wanted to say you have some very cool stuff on your site. Love the "Chris Foss" Enterprise....wish I had thought of that:)

Cool video too bad youtube would probably not allow to use Danger Zone as the song / music backround :(
