WTF or is the concept of the heptapod language real and it really works???

No, learning a weird alien language wouldn't radically alter the very way that we perceive time itself and let us see into the future, as depicted in "Arrival." As that reddit discussion points out, the depiction of how the language affects one's perception of reality is based on linguistic determinism, a concept that is no longer generally accepted by linguists.
Here are some thoughts from a linguist:

The movie does a decent job of depicting the scientific process as well as how to go about learning an unknown language from scratch, at least within the framework of a two-hour story.

The short story/novella goes further into the nature of the heptapods. I never really thought that it was just learning a language that changes our perception of time, but something in the nature of the heptapods themselves. They live outside of linear time and for some unknown reason they are trying to bring that state of mind to other species. The written story deals a lot with how their understanding of Physics is much different than ours because their understanding of physical laws exists without the concept of movement through time.
