If DS9-R came out, I would buy the whole thing. Unlike when I was in my 20s and 30s in the 2000s and 2010s, now I don't have to watch every single dollar and could purchase it without feeling guilty.

Same goes for VOY-R.

Is the presumption that it's also reasonably priced? I'm not spending $1,000 on it no matter how awesome it is.

Nope. CBS would need enough return on their investment that there's no way a DS9 bluray set would be reasonably priced (but I don't think it would be a thousand dollars.) Unlike TNG, there was a lot more CGI that would have to be redone in some way, and that will take time and money. Of course, that was also said about Babylon 5. But I don't own the blurays of that so I don't know how much it cost or how good the transfer looks.

I'd gladly pay five to seven hundred dollars for a box set of properly remastered DS9.

Sounds like a lot, but $100 a season is far less than I paid for it on VHS. And LaserDisc. And maybe DVD. I can't remember for sure, but I know it wasn't cheap to import it.

Plus I'm not gonna live forever, so I'd happily spill some major cash on it while I still can. ;)

Just for shizz I did the rough math on what I spent getting DS9 on VHS.

It was at least $2,700, and probably quite a bit more because I imported some of them.

Well, films in cheap DVDs and BRDs are the norm. They take up little space and are easy-to-use manufacture. Les Movees is gone, so whatever he said ten years ago is meaningless. CBS helped make this situation, but is now a shell of itself. Anything we had thought about the economics of remasters of whole series is probably out the door. I personally fear a "remastered" version of DS9 will be made using AI, and the results will be mixed at best.

I'm going to say no even as a hardcore Niner, I've seen TNG remastered and it looks worse than the original DVD release. It's so bright that it looks like raw footage that hasn't been given any post-production and I don't want a worse looking DS9.

If they did a remaster that kept the same look, but in better quality, I would definitely buy it. The 4:3 aspect ratio and non HD video don't really bother me, but I wouldn't mind it looking a little more crisp! If they had the option to watch it in the 16:9 ratio they were supposed to have filmed the later seasons in that would be great too. I own the remastered TOS set, but I only use it to watch the episodes with the original effects because I like how they look.

I'd do $100 per season if it wasn't barebones. I'd have to think about it more if it was barebones.

As for some of the VHS pricing other posters mentioned...I love DS9, but I also love having cash in my wallet.

DVD vs Blu-ray.

I would buy it if it's in good quality.

I prefer DVDs to streaming. Streaming services are costly in the long run and highly unreliable. Not to mention that 95% of what they offer is mostly uninteresting for me.
