Would you like to see Harry Mudd in the new movies?

I toyed with this idea in a single post in another thread a while back. My choice for a film version of Harry was Jack Black. Though Seinfeld's Wayne Knight would likely be closer to Carmel's style.

I remember when a Mudd type character showed up in Stargate. I was like.. I'm over this. And I'm still over it.

If we see him in the background of a space station that Our Heroes are passing through, perhaps with furry critter held aloft to admirers and he is never ever mentioned that would be fine. Or not.

^I'll say this though, I'd cave on my Mudd resistance if it was Jack Black :adore:

I watched the first few minutes of Mudd's Women earlier today, and could see how Mudd might have made for an intro sequence like the Nibiru. Or maybe instead of? But I'm not missing him. He could be an aspect of a story but not THE story.

Call it: Star Trek Into Muddy Women

The chase through the asteroid field at the start of "Mudd's Woman" would work well - Mudd in the fast little ship from ID, zipping between asteroids, and the gigantic Enterprise in chase, blasting them out of the way with phaser strikes.

When TNG first aired, I remember reading an article about a potential episode plot that would have brought back Harry Mudd. He was to have saved the Enterprise somehow, saying "This ones for ol' Kirk and Spock!". Unfortunately, Roger Carmel died in 1986, so obviously the episode was never written.

Actually, it was RE-written - into "The Neutral Zone".
Don't you mean "The Outrageous Okona?":vulcan:

I don't think Mudd as shown in TOS would be appropriate in nuTrek.
nuKirk would probably admire PrimeMudd
That or bang his daughter, which would inevitably result in a conflict with Carol...

Not as a villain, but Mudd could work very well as a side character who gets caught up in some random adventure with the Enterprise crew.

No. I mean "The Neutral Zone".

No, I really want them to come up with something original, at the current rate, in two films time the crew of the enterprise will be slingshotting round the sun to return to the year 2017 to save the white rhino from extinction, hilarity will ensue when Mr Spock encounters some hipsters on the subway, and Chekov gets caught breaking into a navy base and mistaken for a taliban.

This. :techman:

I guess he was supposed to be one of the dead people or something?

Only if they show him dying in the most horrible of ways...I've never liked that character and find his two episodes boring as hell.
They should ask Shatner to play Mudd in NuTrek...
(he's fat enough now)

Have him fall/get pushed off a bridge...

Then he could die in both versions... Stupidly.

I could see them using a Harry Mudd/Cyrano Jones character in the next Trek movie. Not as a main 'Villain', but certainly as a third party working both sides for personal gain. It would be fun to add a bit of comedy to a franchise that had been dull and dower under Rick Berman for so many years.
