Would this make for the most perfect night of sleep?

Okay this idea isn't realistic or even possible through science but if it was I was wondering if this situation would result in the best night of sleep you could have. Here is the example.

1 a bed designed to be perfectly fitted just for your body.
2 A completely dark room set at a room temperature your most relaxed in. Also it's sound proof so no noise to bother your ears or no lights that might reflect into your eyes. I think we have all been woken up before by someone simply turning on a light or making sound around you while you sleep.
3 A shot or light beam or anything that can completely erase your memories for 8 hours. This way your mind doesn't have to deal with all the bad stuff or issues in your life while your sleeping thus removing any stress that anyone has because of life problems.
4 2 to 4 professionals who can massage your body for those 8 hours while you sleep.
5 a sleep pill like a Zanox or whatever.

If this could be done does anything see in bad logic in the idea? I should note that their is no danger with the memory lost stuff. It's perfectly safe in my scenario.

From what I understand, while we are sleeping, the brain is processing events in ones life and "deleting" those issues or the time we process them is, well, disturbing.

But if their is nothing to process would sleep still be needed or would your brain become more crazed once the memories are restored? KInd of like someone who has gone without sleep for 48 hours or so. ? Also would this night of sleep be great for just one night and thus no real problems but it would be a problem if it was a every night kind of thing you wanted to do?

I love my memory foam mattress, which I guess sort of really shapes to my body, so could you really make one better? I've never felt more comfortable in my bed.

I've got to have open windows to sleep, I just need some light from outside, I don't really get bothered at all by it, but like if my blinds are down and my curtains are drawn I just can't sleep at all. I need my fan on too, I must have air circulation or my poor nose gets all stuffy. I've grown so very dependent on my sound machine for white noise, lol I even have to take it with me whenever I travel, it's perfect for drowning out noises (I started using it because my ex boyfriend snored).

Oh dear, I wouldn't want my memories erased! Isn't it lovely drifting off to sleep daydreaming about your happy memories from your day, or your hopes for tomorrow? Yes I'm up half the night tossing and turning sometimes, but I still feel rested when I wake up, and when it's really bad I just get up for like half an hour, read a chapter of my book, and go back to sleep. Oh life hack: this really works! If your mind's stuck on something, read fiction for like thirty minutes or so and it'll help you get past what's bothering you enough to sleep.

Oh I'll take a massage before sleeping! Not all night though lol, I'd totally freak out if I woke up and a bunch of people were groping me, I'd think I'm being probed by aliens or something. :rommie:

No thank you on sleeping pills! I just don't like using drugs and I try to avoid taking any as much as I can, I'd be ever so terrified of how it'd mess me up or make me dependent. Even like when I need to take a benadryl before bed for my allergies, I have such a terribly difficult time getting up next morning, so I only do that when my suffering is completely unbearable.

Such interesting thoughts! I'm so very curious to see how everyone's going to be different.

1. Comfy bed - tick.
2. Dark room? - Pretty much, but I need to see a clock and a hint of light in the hallway.
3. Memory wipe? - How I would I be able to re-live endless bad moments in my life if they were wiped?
4. People massaging me for 8 hours? - No thank you.
5. Sleeping pill? - It's a different kind of sleep.

I need to have white noise to sleep. I also sometimes struggle sleeping with someone else in the bed - yes husband that's you. Sometimes he doesn't even want to sleep. Then there's the cat who thinks it's her mission in life to get me up in the mornings. YET I love sleeping. So good :)

One thing I would worry about is being so relaxed you heart gives out. I think that is what sometimes happens to people on Heroin. As for the memory wipe it did also occur to me in that if you erase memories so your brain doesn't have to deal with personal issues, thus stress wouldn't it in turn create stress and mental concerns in the fact that you would be a human beings with no memory of who you are or even where you are or why you are their. Imagine coming to life fully self-aware and being told by someone you told to tell you or a personal message you made yourself to simply go to sleep in this dark room. That could be a little unnerving.

No. Just.......no. That's not how that works. You cannot die from being too relaxed.People do not die from a drug overdose because they are too "relaxed." An opioid overdose actually stops parts of your brain from functioning, causing you to lose reflexive responses while simultaneously repressing the functions of your respiratory system.

Two seconds on Google will explain it to you. Try here, for starters.

Does your cat lick your eyelids if you don't comply? I can feel the sandpaper tongue just typing this. :D

1. My Sleep Number bed is already perfect.
2. I like just enough light coming in the window that I can see faint outlines of furniture and doors and therefore don’t need to turn on a lamp when I inevitably get up to go to the bathroom during the night. Soundproof and the perfect temp would be good.
3. No thanks, I’ll keep my memories intact, even the bad ones. They’re part of who I am. And as others have said, our brain processes them while we sleep.
4. Oh hell no! I have PTSD. No one gets to touch me when I’m asleep, especially in the dark. Having surgery under anesthesia is bad enough.
5. I’d like the option of taking something occasionally if needed.

Jayson, you need to make your thread premises more broad and inclusive of others instead of it just being the Jayson show every time. It's always some bizarre premise exclusive to you followed by a bunch of ridiculous caveats to try and make it work. If this thread had been your whacky story and then "what's you preferred method of getting to sleep" or "what's you're idea of a perfect way to sleep?" than that would be something everyone could answer and feel welcome participating in instead of just answering your specific issues.

But the thread is about the premise. I tried to imagine the most perfect way a human could sleep and then see if anyone thinks it would work. If not then why wouldn't it work. You don't even need to ask the question if others have a better idea because it's assumed that people will go there anyways. I tend to sometimes prefer to explore idea's though more than just personal experiences. I mean anyone can ask anyone how they prefer to sleep at anytime. It's a very routine and normal question. I assume people sometimes like to think about stuff you don't normally think about. Am I the only one interested in weird hypothetical possibilities?

Jayson, you don't have to argue every single damn thing just for the sake of being contrary. I'm telling you that in the future if you want to keep your many threads open and running, you need to make the premise more broad and inclusive of everyone giving their own answers instead of just making everyone specifically justify whatever weird thing popped into your head that day; oh, and here's a hundred stupid disclaimers to try and make that bad idea work.

1.>Who wouldn't want the perfect mattress.
2.>Ideal temp sure, not so sure about totally sound proof but living in a rural area it tends to be quiet anyway, though having had to sleep in hotels for 3 years for work I tend to filter out the ambient noise to a degree.
4.>I suspect if someone was massaging me I would be woken from my sleep.

I guess
2 A completely dark room
Honestly, as long as there's no light directly glaring in my eyes, I'm good.
set at a room temperature your most relaxed in.
Actually, I prefer the room to be at a temperature below what would be comfortable, & using some blankets. In my experience, It's your body heat being utilized that makes for a better rest
Also it's sound proof so no noise to bother your ears
As long as your lungs respirate, & your heart palpitates, you never sleep in silence. I actually prefer some white noise from a fan most often
3 A shot or light beam or anything that can completely erase your memories for 8 hours.
WTF? No, just... no. Besides, your brain works during REM. Stands to reason the things you've lived contribute to that process
4 2 to 4 professionals who can massage your body for those 8 hours while you sleep.
You mean people manhandling me while I try to sleep? How is that even possible to sleep through?
5 a sleep pill like a Zanox or whatever..
God no. That's not sleep. That's sedation. There's a difference

Take ambien to help you sleep whenever you feel you're not racist or objectionable enough.

I knew a Ambien joke was coming.:) In retrospect they might have not tried to be so funny in their defense because now they have opened the doors to being a punchline. Like poor Subway to always be connected to Jared.

I am the lightest sleeper in my whole family. If it's raining, for example, I have to go downstairs and sleep on my couch because the rain hits my bedroom window with a THWACK-THWACK-THWACK sound.

And no matter where I do sleep, I have to have music playing. Not just any music, but this specific kind. It's called "Liquid Mind" (actually the former keyboardist for Missing Persons) and I can't sleep if this isn't playing:

Strangely enough, though, I sleep better in hotels than I do at home. I just got back from two weeks in Canada and got some of the best sleep of my life. I love hotel beds! (Marriott ones, at any rate.) At home though I always keep waking up in the middle of the night. Maybe I just need new pillows or some damn thing...

No. Just.......no. That's not how that works. You cannot die from being too relaxed.People do not die from a drug overdose because they are too "relaxed."

Except in Serenity.
