worst TREK PR idea....

What I mean by that is a toy, a comic book series perhaps, or in my case?? The dreadful XMEN/STAR TREK cross-over...that, to me, is when TREK had gone too far...

First off, I remember when DC got the rights to Star Trek after Marvel...and people were so worried that DC would find away to team Kirk up with Batman...or JLA vs The Klingons..but it never happened. And wouldn't you know it, Marvel did it. Yes I actually read this book and, wow, not that it was superbad..just 'super' never should have been done...

(though, the movie poster for TREK V( and yes I am a fan of the V) which had seatbelts in the promo...not a good idea if the movie doesn't go over and reviewers point at the seatbelts as if the theatres could have used them to keep the audience from getting up to leave)

Worst idea?

How about promoting Nemesis as a Wrath of Khan for the TNG crew? That poor film deserved so much better...

Marketing Enterprise as "not your father's Star Trek" and then turning around and spoon-feeding us the same old recycled TNG/VOY.

That press conference for STV (found on the special edition DVD) where the actors are in costume on the bridge set. Silly and awkward is being kind in describing it.

Holy crap! I've never bothered with anything but the movie itself on that DVD! *Must not rush home... must finish working...*

It's on the bonus disc, and watching it is a lot like watching a train wreck. You want to look away, but you CAN NOT!

Leaving Star Trek out of Enterprise's title on the grounds of "the Star Trek name will scare viewers away." The later when Enterprise was tanking in the ratings, they added Star Trek to the title on the grounds of "the Star Trek name will attract viewers."

Star Trek: The Motion Picture Happy Meal from McDonald's. That was one disappointing Happy Meal. :guffaw:

Did I miss it, or has nobody chimed in with the most obvious answer-- "A Valentine (massacre) for the fans!"

^^^

That is bar none, the worst Star Trek PR idea I have ever seen.

Talk about cheesy!

I think that was the point. If I remember correctly, it was a skit on the 30th anniversary TV special.

Yes..and I remember watching it and thinking "God, this is the best hollywood's so called 'writing' could do? And then they go on strike a year ago for more money after ruining 24 and Heroes and they want more money? Yikes..

Surely that's the winner?
