Worst Third Superhero Movie

How could anyone NOT say Superman III????
If you limit it to this decade, I'd pick Blade Trinity. Such a disappointment after the first two were so good and basically created the modern day comic book movie.
I actually like Batman Forever aside from the camp. I liked X-Men 3 for all the new characters in it, even if they ruined Phoenix. And I found Spider-Man 3 to be the most tolerable of the movies just for having three villains in it (found the first two way too boring and soap opera).

I'm not only old enough to have seen all three on their release, I actually did see all three in the cinema.
Superman 3 was basically a no-brainer for me. The others at least showed some respect for their source material and the previous movies in their series. But this was just a silly piss-take, which was inexcusable, given how respectfully and seriously Richard Donner treated the Man of Steel.

Exactly. SUPERMAN III is only the film in the series that DOESN'T feature Luthor.
There are many things to criticize about SUPERMAN III, but using Luthor again isn't one of them!

Batman Forever.
I really don't think Film!Cyclops really qualified for the status of "major character" by that point.
Looking at them now, I'd have to say Batman Forever. Yeah Superman III was a huge step down from the previous movies, but it's still got some fun moments in there (and some pretty cool Superman action).
X3 and Spidey 3 have their share of good moments too.
Batman Forever on the other hand, is just painfully dated and cheesy and unfunny. I might have liked it at the time, but it does nothing but make me cringe now.

Exactly. Just because they wanted Wolverine's little soldiers sticking into a woman at the end of the movie yet again wasn't reason enough to rewrite the character. The funny thing is that they also transplanted Scott's character into Wolverine for the big battle scenes. Wolverine takes over leadership of the team but doesn't act like himself, he acts like Cyclops. The mutant cure plot was ten times more interesting but got buried. X-Men 3 wins. Er, loses.
In defense of Superman 3, it's really just a decent Richard Pryor farce loosely linked to a decent red kryptonite story. It's just hard to mentally shift gears when the movies takes turns on screen.
Batman and Robin suffers from putting a grown man in the Robin role. Either Robin's a kid (which would really make Batman dark and gritty) or he's a joke. Val Kilmer does a great Bruce Wayne, Nicole Kidman is sexy, Tommy Lee Jones is a hoot and the Riddler's crush on Bruce Wayne is hilarious in a sick way.
Spider-Man 3 is a tear jerker about teen male impotence. What's not to laugh at?

Kilmer was a big step down from Keaton. Someone forgot to tell Tommy Lee Jones that he was playing Two Face and not The Joker. I can't stand Jim Carrey, and the guy was pretty much playing himself in the movie. I hate Robin and thought Batman always worked better alone in the films. Also the Batmobile driving up the side of the building is still fucking stupid to this day.
Superman III. It isn't that bad for me. The big shift to camp was disappointing after the first two movies. Yes, it has Richard Pryor, but he isn't the main villain like Riddler was in Batman Forever. We still had Christopher Reeve as Superman. All the Smallville scenes were good. Annette O'Toole was great as Lana. The junkyard fight is awesome and is still one my favorite superhero fights to this day.
Blade: Trinity. I don't remember anything about this movie. Nothing great, but nothing bad. It was complete unmemorable! What does that say about this movie?
X-men: The Last Stand. I was disappointed about how the storyline turned out and how some of the characters were used. After the awesome X2, this was a big stepdown. I think it's sad that the only film in this franchise that felt like a complete movie was X2. The first movie felt like a TV pilot episode and the third felt like 30 minutes were missing, it badly needed more character scenes. Xavier and Cyclops deserved much better fates. Rogue taking the cure was just wrong. Not even the cartoon had her doing something that stupid. However, Brett Ratner did a decent job copying Singer's directing style. I have to admit that there were many great moments.
Spider-man 3. Too crowded. Too many villains. Get rid of Sandman or Venom and this would have worked much beter. This is what happens when studios start thinking that they need to tell good directors what to do. I still don't know why Peter doing the all stupid dancing was left in. It's not the worst movie ever, but I have no real desire to ever rewatch it.

I'm going with Spider-man 3. Not that Superman-3, Forever and Last Stand aren't worse in many, many, respects but the problem with Spider-man 3 is that it should've been good. There's no reason we can say it would be bad like a new director, new talent, a reduced budget, etc. all things we can look at and point-to to pick on those other movies. Lester did Superman 3 he wanted to do more campy slapstick. Schumacher did Forever he wanted a bit more TV-series like camp, there was a new Batman and the studio wanted to push toys. X-Men had a new director more known for action than the more "rounded" and dramatic tone Singer does.
But there's no reason Spider-man 3 was such shit. Rami just flatly gave-up, didn't try and phoned it in.
