I'm on a quest to find out what the TrekBBS thinks is the worst episode of Trek ever. Why? It's in this thread. Here are the rules:

For each season there will be one round where you can vote for your three least favorite episodes. The top five vote getters will then be presented to the membership to pick their least favorite.

Once a worst from each season has been selected, a worst from the entire series will be voted on. When that has been done, I'll conduct a poll in General Trek to decide the TrekBBS's Least Favorite.

Pick your THREE least favorites from VOY Season One.

I thought we could only choose one so I picked "Heroes and Demons" but I would have also chosen "Emanations", that was pretty bad too.

I'll keep that in mind when I tally the votes. I picked "Parallax", "The Cloud", and "Cathexis." I see someone picked "State of Flux". Interesting. That's one of my favorites from this season.

Time and Again, for featuring Paris despite a lackluster performance. Cathexis for sheer stupidity. I was torn between Ex Post Facto, Faces and Phage for number three. Then the comment on State of Flux reminded me that kicked off the insane Seska arc. A lingering bad smell counts for more.

Parallax is good for Torres scenes, Learning Curve for Tuvok scenes and The Cloud for everybody. But their main plots are not very good.

On the other hand, Caretaker, Eye of the Needle, Prime Factors, Emanations, Heroes and Demons and Jetrel are so good that I forget the other episodes in first season!

I think the Seska arc was one of the highlights of the whole series. Am I in the minority on that one?

^^^Don't think you are. But I really have no idea what Seska actually hoped to accomplish. So for me, despite---maybe because of---all the scenery chewing, Seska is a failed character.

Oh I loved it too and it actually gave Chakotay something worthwhile to do in the show. Makes me wish they didn't kill her off so early.

Why go through the tedium of voting for episodes from each season, one after another, when we could all just agree upon "Threshold" and be done with it?

Because I'd argue it isn't the worst. I'd argue it is "The Fight"-poor acting by Beltran, an incoherent technobabble laden mess, lame boxing and a poor gratuitous use of Boothby.

"Threshold" had solid acting, nice insight into Paris, some nice Paris/Janeway moments, Paris/Kes moments and I've never found the science that offensive. I sorta like the idea of humanity evolving into this salamander-looking creature. I even believe there was a scene touching on the Jonas ongoing subplot.

Ex Post Facto
Cathexis
Learning Curve

This was harder than I thought, as s1 does contain stronger eps overall. I don't actually dislike Learning Curve, but since I had to select 3, that one made the cut.

"Phage"
Although the Vidiians are kinda cool, the stuff with Neelix is pretty dull.

"Emanations"
Just kinda weird.

"Cathexis"
I don't remember anything about it other than that I don't think I liked it very much. I mean, how can you love something called "Cathexis" in the first place? What the hell does it mean?

DISHONORABLE MENTION: "Parallax"
The stuff with B'Elanna is cool. The stuff with the Maquis is cool. The anomaly-of-the-week plot sucks!

Oh here we go again with another hater of "The Fight". I agree it's not the best episode of the series, but it's definitely not the worst. I actually thought it was interesting that they were gonna do a boxing episode. It was definitely a different episode for Trek. I just don't understand all the hate and bickering about this episode. And his acting wasn't all that bad. Just too much technobabble. Trimetric fracture and all that garbage. Anyway..ahem. Now "Threshold" BLECHH!!!! I did like the idea of crossing the warp 10 barrier but that's about it. :)
