Worse Than Any TOS Episode!

Danny99

I was watching some old Seaquest DSV episodes when I came across the one guest starring William Shatner.

Just to remind you:

I don't think his acting in any TOS episode was as unintentionally hilarious as the villain in this episode. This episode of Seaquest could be where the fractured Shatner speak stereotype began!

Just for a laugh!

not half as bad as the moustache he wore in that episode of Columbo where he plays a political shock jock.

Seaquest was indeed cheez, but Richard Basehart in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea actually made a tolerable leader, I never liked Roy Schider. I think he would have been a good guest "Admiral" on Star Trek if he had ever been asked

Haha, that comes off just like a parody.
"He's going to take over the world with dolphins but first he needs Darwin!"

Alright, enough with the jokes guys. Seaquest had a good premise but just not enough research. If they'd had writers who knew something about undersea life the show might have had a chance.

And there are some of us out here who wouldn't mind a pet dolphin.

I loved the show, though even I can admit that the second season, which ended up with them on another planet fighting in a civil war, was what sunk this series.

Actually, I'll fess up. I liked Seaquest. It was the second season, as well as the last part of the first season that torpedoed it. As I recall, there was a change in writing staff. I think they made the typical mistake to boost ratings. Instead of writing it more intelligently and creatively, they dumbed the whole thing down to the point of absurdity. Sad, really.

And, yes, I will admit that even though I liked the show, Darwin ended up being one of the best arguments I've ever seen against dolphin safe tuna.

That's exactly what I was thinking. (sigh) No matter how good the series was, people seeing this advert are going to think it was a load of cobblers.

Who does these trailers? It's one of those areas where fans probably COULD do a better job.

Shatner was talking like that even before Trek TOS. My personal theory is that he studied acting by listening to classical drama recordings -- on a wowing turntable.

:guffaw:

Dolphin -- the other white meat!
