World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War

label

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Has anyone read this ? It's on sale for $5 for the kindle and I'm seriously considering purchasing for later? Recommendations please?

Recommended. Although it gets old by the last 50 pages and it's just a bit too easy to identify the author's nationality.

It's awesome, but most people would probably recommend reading Brooks Zombie Survival Guide, it's the funner book of the two.

Alright. Purchased. Thanks for the recommendations. And I'm assuming the "Brooks Zombie Survival Guide" is completely unconnected to World War Z and can be read later?

I've read Survival Guide but not World War Z yet (though I have bought it). It's got to be worth the read just based on the first book. And it's a Hell of a conversation piece to have on your bookshelf.

There's one mention of the Guide, but it's incidental. You don't need to have read it before reading World War Z; I didn't even know the Guide existed until I had bought and finished WWZ.

They're in the same universe...the Survival guide is like a companion book but yeah you don't need to read it to enjoy WWZ. A movie is in the works for 2012. JMS worked on two drafts and Brad Pitt was attached to the film.

Very cool. I'm definitely looking forward to reading this one! Probably next on my list after my current book. (The moon is a harsh mistress). Thanks for the input.

Forgot to mention that it might be interesting to get the audio book if you can...it has a full cast along with Alan Alda and it's pretty good. I'd read the book first though.

It's abridged, though, isn't it? I remember hearing that it lacks some of the book's stories.

Fantastic novel, though, for sure. It's among my favourites.

You might also want to check out a zombie anthology called The New Dead, edited by Christopher Golden. One of the stories is by Brooks and is set in the WWZ world.
