Yes, I know during this time frame the Feds don't deal with the Romulans, but I was thinking of a "what if" idea.
The basic premise of this idea, was to redesign the Romulan Bird of Prey and follow the idea of a "submarine" in space built around a weapon. At the moment she is a two-toned Drab Olive Green dorsal, with a Sage ventral (there is a blending on the lattice wings fading from the olive to the sage) in a ww2-esque vibe.
    The breakdown is as such:
The engines are in the ring (warp or no warp for your own head cannon, and it is meant to evoke a tie-in to the Vulcans) the lattice-like wings are the "cloaking field radiators" and the plasma torpedo launcher is in the front on a brace-like structure is regulated with those spires on the sides of that brace, and a radiator is right behind it. Overall the design is a slimmer more submarine-like hull with wings.
That's all I've got so far, still a Wip( I have some finer painting to still do.
    Enjoy mates:

Awesome design and very nice craftsmanship! From some angles it looks bird-like, from others I‘m seeing a crab. Very cool!

The "Wings of Flame" give a good definition to it, while being reminiscent of the FASA game designs. I really like where you're taking this.

It looks great - how do you make these - are they 3d printed?

    Thanks.

Thanks! No the ship is not 3D printed, but rather kitbashed from some Zoids kits and a holster for a register price scanner.

    Words fail...
Lots of interesting shapes out there in plastic that get thrown away. Many pens have inserts that look like ray cannons

Still an awesome model, @Atolm! Looks fierce and interesting from all angles. Once more I'm tempted to do a composite with starfield and window lights etc. :)

I thought I recognised the engine ring pylons - they appear to be legs from a Double Sworder (or other similar insect-type Zoid). And the wings look like those from a Buster Eagle. I loved Zoids when I was young!
    This is a brilliant model!

I really like the wings. Almost looks like they would fan out when activating the cloakingfield...
