Some tool today was telling me that "Chewbacca would tear Worf's arms off" in no hand-to-hand combat.

Seriously?

Worf is a decorated Klingon warrior and martial arts expert-- who wins bat'leth competitions and proved the ability to fight even stronger Jem'Hadaar in hand to hand combat. Chewbacca is a pilot; yes he has some genetic brute strength-- but he lacks the cultural background and history that has forged Worf into the ultimate Klingon. Worf also has more guile and fire than Chewbacca.

Let's hug it out, bitch. Poll time.

Most of what Worf did was being thrown around the bridge by any alien that showed up that week so I'd have to pick Chewey. That and while Worf would be pulling out his Batleth, Chewey would just shoot him with his crossbow blaster.

^^^ He blew away a speeder bike moving around 200 MPH from about 150 yards away with his bowcaster, so he's a pretty damn good shot.

I like Worf, but he got his ass kicked a lot. Chewie wouldn't let any Ferengi take over the Falcon.

Remember people, this is no weapons-- hand to hand combat. Worf would clean house.

"Let me offer some advice, let the Wookie win."
Worf: "Not today!"

Then Worf growls violent, rushes into Chewie and crushes Chewie's skull with his forehead ridges.

Chewie was seven feet tall and could rip the arms off a droid or stormtrooper in seconds.

You notice how Chewie didn't have to assimilate for THE MAN? They all understood his language.

Plus he kicked ass at space chess. Literally.

Alright, let's get it started.

Chewbacca Facts:

Chewie can turn parsecs into a unit of time.

That's no moon, it's Chewbacca.

Chewie's bandolier isn't actually attached, it just stays in place out of fear.

Chewbacca doesn't know the ways of the Force. The Force knows the ways of Chewbacca.

Chewie is so badass they had to crash a moon onto his head to kill him.

Kessel makes the Chewie Run in less than 12 parsecs, because everything runs from Chewbacca.

Chewie actually did recieve a medal after helping to destroy the first Death Star, but he thought it was a cookie and ate it before the ceremony.

The Millenium Falcon doesn't have artificial gravity. Passengers are just held in place by Chewie's animal magnetism.

Chewbacca, easy. Worf lost regularly at hand-to-hand combat to an admittedly skilled opponent of at least 1/3rd his strength. Chewbacca was some kind of planetary General in his pre-trilogy life. He's also admittedly skilled and at least the same strength, probably more.

Worf lost regularly (or at least once on screen) at target-shooting to a 900-year-old grandmother who gave him prune juice afterwards. Chewbacca is a spring-chicken at a mere 200 and, as mentioned above, tends to hit things he shoots at, even if they're moving incredibly fast.

I was going to go with Worf, but you talked me out of it.

Let's put this in perspective. Chewie was in a two hour movie (then a second, then third). The nature of films only allows for a small amount of fail before the heroes storm the castle and take the day.

Worf was in two television series that, to be relevant to sci-fi fans, has to show a certain amount of ... vulnerabilty - no one is 'super human', everyone has flaws.

The fact that Worf learned from every lesson, every lost battle, shows he's more than capable of taking on and beating Chewbacca.

We know of no such efforts from Chewbacca. He could just be a lazy git and takes his strength for granted - which, very often, leads to ruin.
