Wonder Woman, She-Hulk and Catwoman give themselves breast exams

Whatever gets a few more women to take an interest in the seriousness than it's all good. Even if they are a tad bit more interesting than they should be.

Do women even care about comics these days?
There are a few, probably only 3-4, women who do frequent the LCS I shop.

Well, this is Mozambique. Does anybody here actually have a clue what the awareness amongst women of these characters is in that country? That would seem to be key in evaluating the likely impact of the campaign.

Right, that's a good point. For us in the west female superheroes are pretty much just male sexual fantasies, but who knows how they're interpreted in Africa. From a Western perspective I think it's a clever campaign and at the least it will get people talking about the issue.

She probably drew them true to the characters' forms.

I can't help but feel that women would take those pictures more seriously (not roll their eyes) if the super heroines weren't drawn as male sexual fantasies like they are in the comics.

It's also entirely possible any licensing agreement with Marvel/DC included the characters having to be drawn in a way that is consistent with their appearance in comics. Besides, it's a moot point. I doubt the message would get across any better (or worse) if the characters had more realistic proportions. I do not see how the size of the characters would have any impact whatsoever on the message. It could also be argued that female comic book characters are as much of female heroic figures as they are sexual fantasies. Wonder Woman herself has gotten some credit in the past for being a strong female comic-book hero whose focus isn't entirely on her sexuality but on her strength as a warrior. (Her revealing costume accepted.)

I think the target audience for these ads can handle some large-breasted drawings of fictional women.

If even one woman's life is saved because of this campaign, it's worth it. Who cares what a bunch of sniggering adolescents think about it?
In other words, pretty much the entire membership of Trek BBS. :p

I wish. I'm a sniggering almost-forty-year old.

Is it wrong that those pics turned me on?
Are you a red blooded straight human male? Then there is nothing wrong.

Whew, thanks for the diagnosis!
