Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein. Anyone playing?

I picked it up yesterday and played for a few hours last night.

If you’ve played the Wolfenstein series this one is right in line with those and you should enjoy it.

I have to say for me it started a bit slow because I wanted to get right into the cool castle action you see in all the vids.

The Graphics are on par for a next gen game but I wouldn’t call them over the top.
The game play is pretty standard as well, nothing groundbreaking.

So far I haven’t experienced any glitches so that’s good too.

I know it doesn’t sound like I’m hyping the game but like I said I’ve only played a few hours so far.

I’ll post more when I do.

I played just the first level to get a feel for it, and so far it was the type of shooter that I really enjoy so I'm pleased with it. I even replayed the level trying to find all the gold and intelligence items and I thought I'd searched every nook and cranny and I'm still coming up short, so that's going to give it some depth.

I started my game on easy because I'd heard it was hard and I'm "difficulty challenged" so I generally play on easy, but I think I'm gonna bump it up to "normal". (Yeah I know, most of you probably play on the hardest setting, but what can I say? I suck. )

I too re-played the first level to find all the goodies.
I found all the intel but came up 1 short on the gold.

I actually started my game on the "uber" setting but I'm not finding it that hard.
Not that I haven't died a few times but only a few of them were due to actually being shot at.

I miss the old Apple ][ version. I love how cheesy the voiceovers were. Like you'd shoot a Nazi guard and the tinny speaker would go "AAIEIIEIAEIAIE!" :guffaw:

Well I'm having fun with the game but when the heck do you get to the castle?
Or do you even go to the castle in this game?

I had to bring this one back up. I basically "finished" this game last night. I put finished in quotes because basically I mean I'm finished with it but I didn't actually beat the game. Got to the final boss and the difficulty factor went from challenging fun to ridiculously, annoyingly hard for the sake of being hard. So I said the hell with it. Not worth the aggravation. I play video games to be entertained, not pissed off.

Outside of that, a great game. The best I've played since Infamous.

I played initially on a Magnavox 386 with no sound card. When we got our Compaq Pentium 133 with sound card it was like a whole new game. Mind-blowingly awesome. :guffaw:

Best thing to do is hide under one of the big sprockets in middle, be patient and shoot him whenever he gets in to shooting range.
If you run around and try to take him on Head-on you will get extremely frustrated.

Actually I misspoke, it's not the actual final boss, it's actually the first boss of the final stage. Hans maybe? I hit with everything I had using Empower and it never seems to faze him.

Just wasn't worth continuing on that point. I've pretty much beat the game, know the story, so I can live with not completely finishing it. Like I said, execpt for this stage, I've really enjoyed it a lot. Wish I could replay it and keep all my upgrades and veil powers from the start.

He is the final boss but you have to beat him in a few stages.
Believe it or not I beat him with just the machine gun on the Uber setting.
Just turn on the left button power (sorry can't remember the name of it) when he is near and fire away.

Well I'm playing on Normal, and using pretty much every weapon I have, and using the left veil power (empower) and it just doesn't seem to make any difference. I run and recharge my veil energy but eventually he always kills me before I wear him down.

If you sit still it will charge itself. You also wont use it all because a soon as you start hurting him, he will run away.
Every time I tried to run around, I got killed too.

Yeah but if I don't run for cover, he's blasting me with those machine guns and I'm dead pretty damn quick.

Maybe we're not talking about the same place. I'm talking about the very first battle you encounter when stepping through the portal.

Yep the same.
Just duck under one of the Cog wheels and blast away.
That way when he flies up he can hit you from the air.

If you are talking about the Very, very beginning where he is behind the shield in the middle just stay behind the pillars circling him.
