Wipeout HD

I downloaded it a few hours ago, I'm loving it! I only played the original a few times.... way back when, but this is great fun! not bad for £11,99. Can't wait to try the online mode out too.... did anyone else have a bit of trouble winning the first race? Couldn't get past bronze at one point, doh! :wtf:

^ If you're referring to the Anulpha Pass Speed Lap event, remember to use your boost on each lap. For a while there I was too busy drooling and forgot about it, makes things much easier.

I just tried the Vineta K Zone event in the Uplift campaign. Forget the zone counter, one could judge the shifts by my increasing heart rate. I made it to Zone 22 on the first attempt (Zone 20 needed for Gold) with six perfect zones and a top speed of 917km/h. :D

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to play the game last night (it was late and I had to get up early today). So I'll be playing it tonight, hehe.

I did manage to get 20% of the trophies in Burnout Paradise though.

I bought the game and earned my first PSN trophy. Woohoo!

Anyhow, one weird thing I observed is that I absolutely cannot play this game with the D-pad, which is what I relied on for all previous Wipeout games. I'm always oversteering and running into walls when I use the D-pad, but fare a little better when I switch to the analog. I'm going to have to relearn how to play with the analog stick... :(

^ I didn't even know people used the D-pad for games like this one. I've never even considered using it myself. Analog is the way to go (at least in this case). :)

Congrats on the first trophy btw, I've got about 70 (level 4) at the moment and should have over a 100 by the end of the week.

Might have to try the analog stick, been using the D-pad.

Also got Burnout Paradise :(

Anyone who wants to add me, feel free, PSN name is Korghano.

Too lazy to look it up at the moment, but if I'm not mistaken, the very first Wipeout game on the original PlayStation came out before the Dualshock controller was introduced. I'm THAT old school. ;)

Anyone else having issues with their records not showing up on the global leaderboards?

^ Why the sad face about Burnout Paradise?

Well, I wasn't going to spend 50 bucks (wipeout and burnout) but I did cus you know, you just press a button and bam, it's there.

Great game, though I'd recommend the demo, some folks have problems with the open world nature of paradise. I don't think the demo has online play anymore though, which is really what sold me on the game.

^ Gotcha. But you did get two pretty sweet games for the price of one.

I see. Well, PS2 was my first gaming console so while I've been gaming all my life (on PCs), I've only been gaming on consoles for about a year and a half.

Has anyone tried using the six-axis motion controls for the game? I can magine that being seriously hard to master.

I'm loving the game so far, got 4 trophies up to now and barely got out of the first set of races! Alot of fun, and I think its one of the best value for money games out there!

I've been meaning to enable it for pitch control only, haven't got around to it yet. I've read conflicting reports as to how usable the feature is.

I notice that team loyalty increases even in zone mode, which seems a little odd given that all craft share the same stats there.

These are two ridiculously slick games. Love that the load times between menus and games in Wipeout are so quick. Burnout is even worse, the game absolutely doesn't give you a minute to think "I should probably be doing something else..." It assaults you with trophies and medals, and hopping online is as simple as pressing left twice on the D-pad. So much goodness.

^ Yeah, Burnout Paradise is awesome. I have spent SO MUCH time playing that game already (before trophies). :D Now it's gonna take up even more of my time, hehe. Not that I mind though.

I think someone here invited me into BP and then I invited him... but I had no idea what I was doing. No way to chat kind of sucks.

Lol, that was me! I invited you then suddenly realised I had no clue how to set up events or anything. I got worried I'd pull you out of a hot race into my clueless, joyless city so I canceled! Didn't get your invite though.

As much fun as Burnout Paradise is, I think there's more of a learning curve to this one than any of the others.

I had no idea the game has motion controls. I'll have to give those a spin to see how (and if) they work.

EDIT: After not much time with the steering motion controls, those blow and suck. The pitch motion controls aren't too bad though, and actually come in handy because I always forget about pitch otherwise.

Ah yeah, I was looking to see how I could accept the invite but couldn't find it. Good times.

So how are you guys doing in the game?

I started on the 8th Tournament (the last one) last night. Phantom (the fastest speed class) sure is a handful, haha. ;) Anyway I gotta say I'm really enjoying the game so far. I've also played it online a bit (about 15 races) and it works pretty nicely. Overall, awesome game for $20 (I'd love it even if it was full price).
