WIP - Centaur A

I like the use of Black around the lit areas...It reminds me of the Enigma Class Starship.
I'm trying to figure out the bottom.

Right now this looks to me like a fairly low-poly model with a lot of tiled textures on it. I much prefer to see the details actually created on a model rather than painted on. It takes a lot more work, but makes for a much better looking end product.

One of the problem I have with C4d, is that there no potent option for: duplicate a polygon object into a polygon, like Lightwave has. You can duplicate, but it doesn't do it on a polygon that it would replace. So you have to construct everything in the model, and maybe mirror. But the mirror effect has textures issues on so many levels. That's why I placed bump texture...

In C4D, the only plugin that does this well, is called Di+Clone, but it's not free. Maybe I should put back Lightwave on my Computer, now that I have a manual about texturing in lightwave...

I made some change to the textures, the model, etc...As you can see I got rid of the engines...I really found them ugly, so...I redone the panel texture more dark with reflection.

And I finally found a way to duplicate a polygon object and place it somewhere I want it in C4D. It took me a day or two to experiment with all the options. There are some conditions to this but generally you have to use functions Split, remove all the textures, model your object. Texture completely and mirror. Once mirrored, don't ever touch that object it is done for and unlinkable to the main object. The Clone function is complex to manipulate in C4D, I didn't find it usefull. The Duplicate is fair but you have to place the object manually. I should really do a tutorial about this...I didn't saw one for C4D.

What I did isn't the end of the world, but it's a start...

I did most of the engine parts. The impulse are down on the wing. I enlarged the wing to rest them, and also slim the tip. Completely changed the engine for a more slick model that looks a bit like the Enterprise D shapes.

I did the top Hull. Sorry Axeman, no modelling on the hull. I will try Lightwave again, because C4D is way limited that way. Anyway I brought back some texture theme so that the version B is kind of parent to A. Put an image with only the lighting of the ship, for the fun of it. It shows also the basic luminance of the main texture.
