Windows File-Copying Problem

I have a 4.5 GB file (4,647,816 kB, to be precise) that I'm trying to copy to a 500 GB external hard drive connected via USB cable. The external drive has 403 GB of free space, and it was formatted with the FAT32 file system. For whatever reason I can't copy the file to that drive. When I try to copy the file, I get the following error dialog:

Error Copying File or Folder

Cannot copy {filename}: There is not enough free disk space.

Delete one or more files to free disk space, and then try again.

To free space on this drive by deleting old or unnecessary files, click Disk Cleanup.

What gives? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

iirc, FAT32 only handle files upto 4GB, so this is a little too big.

FAT32 uses 32 bits to store file length. So that's upto 2^32 = 4 billion bytes = 4GB.

NTFS would work fine. :)
