William Shatner wants to be Prime Minister of Canada.

The 'Star Trek' actor, who played Captain Kirk in the hit sci-fi TV show, is planning to make a dramatic career change and help lead his native country.
The 77-year-old star said: "My intention is to be Prime Minister of Canada, not Governor General, which is mainly a ceremonial position."
Shatner revealed his lofty ambition in response to a letter from a fan who urged him to put himself forward for the Governor General of Canada.
The Governor General is appointed by the monarch - which in Canada is currently Queen Elizabeth II - to perform the constitutional duties of the sovereign on her behalf.
In his letter, Shatner regretfully added: "I must, with my deepest thanks, turn down your honourable intent to advance me as Governor General. Besides which, I don't have time to be Governor General."

"My God Bones... what have I done...?"
"What you always do... try to invade America any way you can"

"In a rather curious start to the first term of Canada's new Prime Minister, all self professed fans of the popular television show Star Trek, have been marked for immediate deportation."

Incredibly unlikely and it's very much not wanted thanks :)

As much as I shake my head at the bozos we have in the Commons now I think emigration would become a priority if things went pear shaped that he ended up in charge of the country. I'd rather import Jeremy Clarkson thanks...

The timeline has been changed. I just checked my First Contact DVD and it features Bob and Doug McKenzie instead of Zephram Cochrane.

Man, Americans get former alcoholics and drug addicts for Presidents, so we gotta' one up them.

I was born in '77. While I remember Jimmy Carter being President, Reagan is really the first Presidency that I remember. He was in office from when I was three through 11. Big stuff in those eight years for me developmentally. Like him or not, he's not one I'll forget.

Until I'm 87 and have Alzheimers. Then I'll just be happy to find the can.
