William Shatner in "Emissary" - A dream I had last night

Admiral Archer

Last night I had a really unusual dream that Patrick Stewart was not the only guest actor to play a Star Trek captain on the DS9 pilot. In my dream, it was a really weird deleted scene where two characters (I would like to say Sisko and Dax) are getting ready to practice baseball batting in a gymnasium type room, when in walks William Shatner, in 24th century civilian clothes, as if he is a retired Kirk. The strange part is, neither Sisko nor Dax geek out over this, they just act as though he's just another person on the station (and maybe he was, given the nature of the scene). Then things get really odd, because Shatner walks over to a rack where the baseball bats are hung, and says, "You can't just play baseball with any old bat. No, you have to have the perfect bat." He then picks out a metal bat, handing it to Sisko, in whose hands one end turns into an ophidian, similar to the one seen in "Time's Arrow". Sisko then has Dax run a diagnostic on it, the ophidian turns out to be emitting high levels of neutrinos, which leads to the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole, etc. It's almost as if in my dream the whole discovery of the wormhole was set into motion by this strange guest character role that Shatner played in the deleted scene, and when his character was removed they rewrote the script or something. As for Shatner's character, he was very Guinan-esque, possibly even El-Aurian. Anyway, it was just a dream.

That sort of sounds like a 'Trials and Tribble-ations' episode in reverse! With all the timey-wimey-wibbly-wobblyness of Star Trek, it wouldn't surprise me if Kirk was somehow behind the discovery of the wormhole all along.
