The Moonves thing was the last straw for me- maybe if the show were better, or it wasn't $10/month, or literally any redeeming reason to pay $120/year to a company that has decided not to act on the numerous Moonves #MeToo accusations: https://www.usatoday.com/story/life...s-cbs-board-directors-meets-monday/862405002/ Bummer!
there are so many silly things here. if the show were better then sex abuse would mean less to you than it does now? i don't see where it says CBS is failing to act. they're bringing outside counsel in to investigate and the story is still unfolding. if they remove him later this week or month or after the investigation, are you going to re-subscribe? also you don't have to subscribe for the whole year, just for as long as the show is running or after the season has completed so you can binge it in one go.
Over the Moonves allegations? No. Why would I? You're punishing hundreds of people involved in the production over the actions of a single person. And why are you paying $120? The show runs for four months.
How about people on a person by person basis cancel based upon whether they believe it and not cancel because CBS won't do something over accusations that have neither been proven true nor litigated in a court of law?
Agreed. What possible reason could there be to cancel subscriptions because of this? Even if these allegations are true...is Moonves personally responsible for DSC? Does he write it, act in it, or take any part whatsoever in creating it? Does he have anything to do with it at all? No? Then what's the point? If people think they're making some sort of moral crusade by doing this, then I submit that it would be...misguided. Put your effort into speaking out against harassment, of course. But don't suddenly think that you don't have the right to enjoy a show just because of some executive who had nothing whatsoever to do with it.
You know if you're going to cancel something based on allegations of one individual, you might as well throw out the TV.
Is anyone surprised by this, anyway? He did cheat on his previous wife with his current robot wife, a 20 years younger employee who he then gave no audition talk show jobs. I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED Les Moonves is unethical!
Media and showbusiness is full of shady characters. You would have to stop watching and listening to everything.
Reminds me of the Miss Saigon kerfluffle. Righteous SJWs were boycotting the show because the lead character, who was supposed to be of Eurasian descent, was played by fully European actor Jonathan Pryce. Never mind that their boycott would put fourteen fully Asian actors out of a job, plus the entire production staff of various and sundry NYC denizens, who could be of pretty much any ethnicity there is. For all I know the CEO of my company is a serial rapist. I'm not about to quit my job if I find out he is. I DO know a manager or two over the 37 years I've been here who abused their power over female employees. I didn't quit over that either. Ya gotta think things thru before you act with rash righteousness. Did anyone in the cast or crew of Discovery rape anybody (that you know of)? Then why punish them?
Was this really necessary? Conservatives have had just as many knee jerk boycotts over the years. https://www.businessinsider.com/conservatives-boycott-brands-keurig-nfl-starbucks-2017-11
No, even if CBS were available for me to cancel I wouldn't. I'm also not going to stop watching any production that involved Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, Harvey Weinstein, or Kevin Spacey just as I will continue to appreciate art by Caravaggio or Picasso.
