I'll be happy if we get a third film with this cast, considering Into Darkness' disappointing US performance.
Probably not. This cast isn't committed to Trek the way the older actors were. In other words, they have careers outside of Star Trek.
Paramount will let it rest for a few years and do another reboot.
CBS isn't interested in Trek for TV.
STD is the second highest grossing Trek film. If they decide NOT to do a third one because they consider that a disappointment, then they are incredibly stupid and don't deserve anything else.I'll be happy if we get a third film with this cast, considering Into Darkness' disappointing US performance.
I'm not sure why you would reboot a successful reboot and believe that it would actually work...?
Any other franchise can do a fresh reboot whenever they want. Tarzan, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, yadda yadda blahblahblah ad infinitum.Probably not. This cast isn't committed to Trek the way the older actors were. In other words, they have careers outside of Star Trek.

Another reboot? About what, an alternate to the alternate timeline?
My guess is that after Trek 3, there will be a 5-7 year gap before they will be able to round the cast back up and get approval for a fourth installment. And even then, there will be a sour apple (Quinto?) or two that don't want to do it anymore.

But no, not for the Treknids. They have to have some kind of link to a history so convoluted and contradictory that it eventually almost choked on itself.
After the next movie, I'd welcome a fresh start--a clean break with a clean slate. There are plenty of stories to tell without all that excess baggage.
