Will Start Shooting in January

In related news, it won't be called "Star Trek II".

It'll probably be something that's already been used, then. They'll probably want something that's recognizably "Star Trek," and all the "Man of Steel"/"The Dark Knight"-style nicknames and associations have already been used for episodes and other movies.

"The Final Frontier," "These Are The Voyages," "Strange New Worlds," "Where No Man Has Gone Before..." Even just "Enterprise" is taken.

On the other hand, they could just say "To Hell with it" and go the James Bond route, where it's a series of totally unrelated titles, and the franchise-identification only comes across in the branding.

Federation, Prime Directive or Enterprise. They were all the names of Trek novels, and the latter also a whole prequel series, but they all say "Star Trek" well enough without saying it and would make fine movie names.

Or maybe, if they're focussing on the afermath of Vulcan's demise, Spock.

I like "To Boldly Go" especially if it's relevant to the plot. So happy it starts shooting soon. Can't wait fo production shots!

I like that too. It is the most famous split infinitive and it is a well known saying not only in Star Trek but in the popular culture.

If the cameras don't roll until January it won't see theatrical release until at least Christmas of next year...around the time of the end of the Mayan calendar.

(*Snort*)

Great. Great timing. That means I'll be fighting zombies for a three dollar box of Junior Mints at the concessions stand.

No, they make it sound insufferably dull.
