Will "Earth One" become DC's Ultimates line

So apparently DC is coming out with Batman: Earth One as a follow up to Superman: Earth One. Its why DC has been keen to remind folks that the mainline DC comics do not take place on Earth One since that will be a separate continuity. It would be nice if the Earth One line became their version of Marvel's ultimates line. It also offers the possibility of creating a universe similar to the recently departed DCU for those of us that are not huge fans of the DCnU.

I thought that was the idea behind the "All Star" line but that was apparently ditched after the abomination that was All Star Batman & Robin.

I wonder if DC would consider doing ongoing stories there? Of course doing that means that DC would effectively have ongoing series on NuEarth/Earth 0, Earth 1, Earth 2 and Earth 16. Talk about a massive reversal of the logic behind the Crisis on Infinite Earths :vulcan::rommie:

They've said no when people have asked them this. Earth One is it's own entity. Looking forward to both "Batman: Earth One" since it was first announced two years ago, and "Superman Earth One Volume Two" in November :)

As for the future of the All Star line...I doubt we'll ever see it revisited. Adam Hughes was pulled off the long delayed All Star Wonder Woman to work on Before Watchmen. All Star Batman and Robin was supposed to return last February, retitled Dark Knight, Boy Wonder but the relaunch refocused Jim Lee's attention.

Not sure they need an "Ultimates" type book since they just rebooted their entire line. Marvel's "Ultimate" line was to be new updated takes on their classic characters without decades of continuity bogging it down or "scaring away" new readers.

DC's recent reboot put's it in that neighborhood.

Because although they do sell it in the gimp shops, it's main purpose is really to attract normal people who go to book shops and aren't interesting if that person in the third panel down is the Spunker-man of earth-4567.

Really? Wasn't that years ago, I would have thought that he's had a lot of projects since then. Wasn't it originally announced in like 2007? That was five years ago. Has Before Watchmen really been in production for that long?

There was an article recently on Bleeding Cool that stated Hughes was taken off All Star Wonder Woman to work on Before Watchmen. I believe also that Bleeding Cool, when they first started reporting about Before Watchmen said it was in development for longer than we have known about. Also...it is logical to assume that All Star Wonder Woman has been worked on and off at various points.

Here is the Bleeding Cool article on Hughes.

Yeah Earth One was created to focus on the graphic novel market and book stores. Didio states this in one of the first interviews about the line a year ago or so.

Grant Morrison has also teased a Wonder Woman project of some kind that he wants to do after he's finished Batman, Inc. I suspect we'll see stuff announced at SDCC next month.

Interesting. Didn't see that. Thanks!

No problem. I was surprised to read that he was taken off of it...or that he was still working on it. The one project that seems absolutely dead is All Star Batgirl, which would have been written by Geoff Johns with art from J.G. Jones. The Batgirl featured in the book would have been different than the one featured in All Star Batman and Robin.

I don't know about Earth One becoming DC's Ultimate line but rather turning it the other way around, I think Marvel's Season One graphic novels are their answer to DC's Earth One.

^ That's what I think as well. Both are really their plan to tap into the graphic novel/book store market place.
