I can't imagine sci-fi much more different in tone than nuBSG and the Trek reboot movies. BSG was all gritty realism, dirt and grime, documentary style filming, a sense of ever building despair, conflicted characters and political intrigue. nuTrek is a bright, zany, upbeat, breakneck paced movie series where good guys and bad guys are clear and everything is clean, primary coloured and backed by rock music. Two very different approaches to space opera.being tonally/visually similar to Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek 2009
Discovery doesn't really resemble either; although it takes some visual cues from JJTrek, it's pretty different in tone from the looks of things, and apart from blue uniforms I'm not getting BSG at all.
