To the few of you who were successfully fooled by our April Fool's prank: I humbly apologize. If it makes you feel any better, at least you didn't get Rick Rolled as I was--several times.

Also, Happy First Contact Day!

Episode 103 - "Wildfire"

Synopsis: With Captain Cortez unconscious and a mysterious disease sweeping through the ship, passing right through quarantine, Captain Dovan takes the Excelsior back to Valandria to have it out with the leadership. In the meantime, civil war has broken out on Valandria as a result of Sorid-Gee's attempted coup, and Chief Engineer Lorhrok's attempts to get information out of the Oracle hologram go badly awry.

Next Time: The grand finale to the Excelsior Returns storyline, "Down the Rabbit Hole", comes in June 2008!

On behalf of the whole Excelsior team, we're proud of this episode and I hope you'll enjoy listening to it as much as we did making it.

Fun, entertaining episode, with a lot of exciting plot threads that I look forward to seeing continued in the next installment.

Congrats on your new original theme song! I thought it sounded a little "midi", though I kind of liked that- reminds me of the Blake's 7 theme song.

My two nit picks:

"Space, the Final Frontier..." I say this every time, for every one of you Trek fan productions that does their own version of this- quit it! Pro Trek only did it twice, and the second time they were bringing the Enterprise and Star Trek back to TV after 20 years. They wouldn't keep starting every spinoff with a re-worked version of the statement of The Enterprise's mission, and you shouldn't either. It's unoriginal and silly. I don't mind it so much from Exeter, which was trying to bring a sense of TOS authenticity to fan films, or from Section 31/Lost Frontier, who use it to set up their very different Trek universe, but it's not working for the rest of you. IMHO.

I thought it was a little strange that the word "Wildfire" was spoken by someone on the Excelsior and one of the aliens, kind of in reference to the same thing, but completely coincidentally. A bit of a stretch.

That's all. Thanks again- looking forward to next ep!

Oooo... that shouldn't have happened.

I blame the scriptwriter.

EDIT: As for the rest... I've had to defend this a few times now, so maybe I should rethink it, but I've always thought it was plain stupid of the Trek people to stop doing the mission statement at the start of every show. (Enterprise in particular would have benefitted by its inclusion in the titles.) In 37 words, the "Space, the final frontier" speech sums up Star Trek. It's probably the most brilliant television theme-music-with-exposition piece in history, and it never fails to send a teensy little chill up my spine. There is no reason to alter it (Lefler's Law #36: "You gotta go with what works."), much less delete it. Indeed, to make changes to it, it seems to me, is merely an obvious attempt to set one's show "apart" and give a sense of freshness to the concept that, in my opinion, Trek does not need. To omit it entirely is to needlessly delete a wonderful statement of purpose and a valuable, deliberate linking to the rest of the Star Trek universe.

But you're, like, the fourth person to express that opinion to me. So I dunno.

I think it seems to occur too much too (Cue spacedock scenes and that time portal rock with a whole thingy). BUT, it's your show, stick with how you want it. I don't know how many people have listened but 4 out of that many isn't THAT much.

True, 4/350 listeners isn't that many. 4/10 non-production people who have commented on the show... that's something to consider.

Speaking of which, I forgot to actually thank John for the feedback. Thank you!
