Wii Update=Storage solution

Just a heads up for any Wii users.
They just announced a Wii update at the GDC, the update is available now. And adds a storage solution. 32GB SD card support, where the games will download directly to the card, and launch from it too.
It's about time they had a proper solution.

Nope. And up until now it has only supported 2 GB SD cards, and only as storage you couldn't run anything off them only copy your downloads to it after download.

Its weird cause I would have thought that having external hard drive support would have been a no-brainer

I think the PS3 is the only one of the consoles to support that. And I think Nintendo are/were trying to limit the options of pirates... not that it's ever stopped them.

I figure this might be a good place to ask rather than starting a new thread, but I set my Wii to 16:9 widescreen, yet the screen still comes over as 4:3 for the menu and all the games. Anyone know why that might be?

You've not got your TV set to 4:3 by mistake have you?

My TV is set to "normal," meaning it'll show whatever is given to it. The PS3 and 360 all come over in widescreen, just not the Wii.

My TV has separate settings on each input, so I know sometimes I've changed the setting on a particular input then been confused as to why it's wrong the next time I used it.

Did you remember to save the setting? You can click on it, but then you have to save the setting before it takes effect...

No, I got component cables. It's going into my receiver via component and the receiver goes into the LCD TV via HDMI. Don't know if that has anything to do with it though. When I was running my 360 into the receiver via component, it came out okay.

Can you plug it directly in to the TV to rule it out?

This is certainly better than nothing. Besides, who wants a big clunky USB drive sitting around tethered to the Wii? 32 Gb. seems like a very good amount of storage for that system, especially since the downloadable classic games are minscule in size. And SD cards are cheap and extremely portable.

Don't care. I do, however, care about the sequel to the best Wii game of last year, FF:CC:MLAAK.

Can't wait.
