Why was there no on-screen appearance of Guinan in 2370?

TroiFan4ever

Commander
Red Shirt
No Beverly Crusher in 2365
No Wesley Crusher in 2369
No Lwaxana Troi in 2369
No Guinan in 2370!!!

Well, I'm asking about the last on the list because I happened to be watching Star Trek Generations and in one of the Sickbay scenes, Dr. Beverly Crusher was talking to Commander Riker about going through a crew manifest of some other ship and the scene cut to Picard before she actually said her name but I take it Guinan was on that ship.

Does this explain Guinan's absence in TNG Season 7, except for its novels that take place during that year?

Only because my TNG novel is set in 2370 and Guinan is in it but I want to not mess up the timeline.

The likely explanation is that Whoopi Goldberg was busy filming a movie that season -- probably either Sister Act II or Corrina, Corrina, or maybe both. In-story, there's no reason to assume that Guinan was off the ship. There were around a thousand people who were supposedly on the ship but who never got featured in an episode, so it's not that hard to believe that Guinan could've been around but not involved in any of the stories that got featured onscreen that season. Maybe all the Ten Forward scenes just happened while she was off-shift.

I wonder if Guinan was retained on the Enterprise-E or if she just opened a bar on Earth somewhere after Generations.

I believe I read somewhere she was featured in one of the post-Generations TNG movies. If I've seen her, I don't recall.

After GEN, Guinan wasn't seen again 'til the weddin' in NEM.

 Yup, and I loved the lines she exchanged with Geordi.

LaForge: "Did you ever think about getting married again?"
Guinan: "No. Twenty-three was my limit."

The other ship Beverly mentions is the Lakul, the ship we see destroyed by the Nexus ribbon in 2293. (And of course, we also see her aboard the Ent-B after Scotty's rescue beam-out.)

Nothing to do with Guinan's years aboard the Enterprise D.
