Yeah, I don't believe that. Bryan Fuller wanted the credit of running both Star Trek and American Gods and couldn't make it work. He chose to focus on American Gods instead. Left CBS in the lurch.

This article doesn't say anything about Bryan Fuller. It is talking about production and waiting for their star.

I think the article is mostly spot on, with one exception - it is pretty quiet about Bryan Fuller. I think that CBS was putting their cart before the horse when they announced originally that the show would come out in January 2017. According to Bryan Fuller, when they were talking to him about becoming the show runner (around Nov-Dec 2016, after the announcement!) they didn't have an idea of what they wanted the show to be. Bryan brought the idea. Then they had to go from creating an idea for the show all through writing, building, casting, and filming in ~12 months; there was just no way. CBS should have known that from the start. Maybe losing Fuller and casting delays pushed it back from May 2017 to September 2017, but I am glad CBS finally realized that "when it is done" is the best time to release the series.

I am glad Fuller stepped back for whatever reason. I enjoy his work but having just finished American Gods season 1 it is clear the whole season was a setup for season 2, which would have eaten up MORE of his time. It's best that he commits himself FULLY to ONE show I think. I wouldn't want a half ass attempt at running both. I think both shows probably benefitted from his stepping back.

Well, of course they're not going to dredge up mud about Bryan Fuller in an interview. They're going to talk about what they can safely talk about, which is perfectly fine.

That they are taking their time to ensure triple-A level production values is perfectly believable, other factors for the delay notwithstanding.

Which is precisely JRoss' point.

Yeah, this makes the most sense to me and I'm not surprised that CBS doesn't want dwell on what happened with Fuller.
