Why Not More Blue and Gold Shirt Deaths?

Krazy gluing ones feet to the transporter pad seemed like a great practical joke but..

McCoy: "Dammit, Jim, get over yourself! That ego of yours is distorting the local gravitational field again!"

Yeah - I must admit I prefer the "rounded collars" to those WNMHGB tatty ones. The latter have always reminded me of underpants waistbands when the elastic goes. I wonder if this is what happened to the shirts between pilot episodes...?

i just feel bad for all the dead redshirts :D

oh, and the salmon tan and avacodo thing looked rather ugly...

thats all i have to say... :shifty:

Really? I kinda like 'em, actually. It's a nice understated contrast (when the lighting is right - as with the photo above). Much healthier for the security guys than those awfully loud REEEDDD!!! things they wore later.

Although, I have to say, the red shirts were my aesthetic favourite of the later TOS uniforms...

The following day, Starfleet introduced a regulation prohibiting Transporter Flatulence.

It may be that the blue & gold shirts were more difficult for Starfleet to reproduce, so therefore they made sure to give the more expendable red shirts to the security guys.... nah.

Lt. O'Neill's recurring back problems weren't helped by Arcillian acupuncture methods.

They'd certainly be easy to target!

(You folks from the 1960s may remember Bill Cosby's comedy routine that explained how the Colonists won the American Revolution: the British lost the pre-war coin toss. The American captain declared that his side would wear any color they wanted and shoot from hiding, whereas the opponents had to wear red and march in a straight line.)

Could it be as simple as they are more often to die because othe than Engineering ect Red shirts were security and who do we often see later on in TNg, Ds9, and Voayger die alot? Yellow/Gold uniforms (Tactical/Security *though some could be engineering*)

That, and the fact that Red (in TOS) was the most commonly worn uniform as most trades and vocations fell under the Operations/Support Services banner than the more exclusive Command Gold or the even less-common Sci/Med Blue...
