Why do they keep spoiling it for us?

As mentioned elsewhere, the preview clips for the following week and the opening credits are really ruining any chance of being surprised by all these guest appearances.

I think it would have been better to keep these things until the "reveal" and is spoiling it a bit for me.

Anyone else feel the same?

Does it not annoy you a little that a guest actors name will come up in the opening credits, thus "ruining" the whole surprise of the return of an old character? And they showed Michael in last weeks preview clip, so we knew he was coming back too. I guess I'd just like to be surprised again, like in the early days of Lost. Nothing seems to surprise anymore, even though I've avoided all spoilers on boards like this. "TPTB" are providing the spoilers.

Well, I've had those complaints about TV in general for a long time. The good thing about LOST is that I have no idea what the real actors' names are!

i do, although I've been spoiled that some of those people coming back for a while now, I'm still waiting for a certain person who's name rhymes with Gannon to come back. And at this point, not sure who's episode they could even make an appearance in, unless they come back as a ghost like Michael.

I just don't watch the previews, problem solved. I used to try to avoid reading the guest cast credits too, but my discipline on that front is completely gone now.

i do, although I've been spoiled that some of those people coming back for a while now, I'm still waiting for a certain person who's name rhymes with Gannon to come back. And at this point, not sure who's episode they could even make an appearance in, unless they come back as a ghost like Michael.

The actors names are at the beginning because it's part of their contracts. I REALLY wish they wouldn't do it, but I can't help but look. The only time they ever left out an actor's name was Sonya Walger for a shocking Penny moment.

No one forces you to watch the previews. Change the channel when they come on.

And I never watch the opening credits. I'm too focused on the show

Yeah, I've never ever watched the preview clips. I don't know what's going to happen until it starts. I only knew about the Richard episode because a friend told me (without me asking), otherwise knowing that that episode was about him would have been new to me.

Yeah, there's not much they can do about the actor's names in the credits. They have to go along with industry standards on this stuff, unless they make a special arrangement with the actor in question, as they presumably did in that case with Sonya Walger. But they're not going to do that for every familiar guest star in every episode.

I'm guessing that *at most*, about 10-15% of the audience knows the names of the actors in question, so it's not an issue for most viewers. It's only on internet messageboards like this that you're likely to find a large number of viewers geeky enough to know all the actors' names.

Thanks for the spoiler code ObiWan. In a thread complaining about unwanted spoilers.

Mojochi is probably correct - I'm guessing the flashsideways Sayid will meet Gannon and have a "moment" that connects him with the island, as in the case of the other Losties that have loved and "Lost".
