Why are the women of the Enterprise so rebelious?

She was a redhead.

Indeed, she was a redhead. So...?

And to quote from Thumbnail Theater's MGS parody, something I think that is very fitting for McGivers:

"I'm being hit on by an alpha male! It's the highlight of my dreary nerd existence!"

^ Yes, but Khan described her, if I'm remembering correctly, as a "superior" woman. I don't pretend to know what criteria a meglomaniacal would-be dictator has for "superior," but I would have thought it involved more than red hair. And hotness, for that matter. BWDIK?

Besides, Raggedy Ann is a redhead. So is Little Orphan Annie! ;)

Khan also spent time rearranging her hair. Proper hairstyling must also be a criteria for being a "superior" woman.

Whose your favorite female rebel?

"Is that an order?" Vash
"Absolutely." Picard
"This isn't a starship, Jean-Luc. I don't follow orders." Vash

 Love it!

Warmest Wishes,

How about the klingon Mara.

She on a ship full of klingon males, beyond just being Kang wife, she can very well hold her own.

Didn't even realize it was the same Susan Howard I'd been watching for years until I went looking for the pic.

Because they had to deal with Jim "oh dear, why did they give me a female Yeoman" Kirk? If we're talking about all the Enterprises, Ro was my favourite. A square peg in the round hole of Starfleet. "Pre-emptive Strike" justifies the concept of the Maquis a lot more than Voyager ever did.

Seriously, if I had to wear those goofy uniforms and hairstyles, I'd be rebellious too. My favorite of the bizarre styles was Yeoman Rand's upside-down basket. As a child, I always found that hilarious for some reason. Now I just find it grossly unfashionable.

I bet Kirk insisted that his third A&A officer not be female. McGivers committed mutiny, Carolyn Palamas ended up pregnant by the god Apollo (in the original ending)... that position is obviously jinxed!

Ro Laren is the most outstanding Enterprise rebel. What she did in her final episode was entirely true to her character. :techman:
