So many choices. I'm not putting a poll in because it's not a competition. I think DSC has knocked it out of the park this season with the new characters. Book Sahil (as little of him as we saw) Adira Vance Kovich Carl Those are the stand-outs for me this season. Osyraa too, potentially, if they give her more to work with. I need to see more of Gray. And Ryn! I thought he'd only be in one episode. Then, to my surprise, he stuck around. I was also hoping we'd see more of Willa. It feels like she should've been assigned to Discovery. I still say she would've been my choice for First Officer.
Grudge, of course. Quite like Book and Vance, though I wish Vance had more to do than just handwaving whatever wacky adventure Discovery is about to go on. Kovich was interesting initially, but was presented blandly in the last episode. Adira's fine, and I like that they bring more out of Stamets and Culber. Not at all keen on Gray so far.
Not sure that's part of his job. You don't see the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff leading commando raids. I like Vance. He come across as a good leader. And it's a bit unusual setup for Star Trek. CO's in past shows rarely had a boss. Just the occasional Bad Admiral and the occasional Good Admiral given an assignment. Book is cool. That's mostly Ajala though Adira is well acted. Blu is quite the find.
Vance and Kovich are very good characters. Thought Willa was a promising character until she disappeared. The same applies to Sahil. Booker, the cat, Adira, Ryn and Osyraa are OK. My favorite new character has to be Carl, though. Classic portrayal of a Godlike being.
Not a huge fan of the show overall, but one of the great things is that it has a vast array of cool and interesting characters. My favorite new one is Adira. They are one of the best actors on the show in my opinion. Vance was cool at first, but he seems to have softened up a bit. And Osyraa has been great so far.
Y'know, I like all of these new ones. They're better than most old ones, for me. Thanks for making me realize this.
Kovich. It's like they dropped a 21st century gman into the 31st with no changes because why the f not.
Agree they’ve done a great job with the new characters. Adira is possibly my favorite, but I really like Vance, Book and Future David Cronenberg. And Grudge, of course. Casting continues to be one of the show’s strong suits. There’s not a lot to Kovich on paper, but he’s very compelling because he’s Future David Cronenberg.
I think Vance is kind of like Admiral Ross in DS9 and Admiral Forrest in Enterprise. While it's logical for him to not go out on a mission they can always find away for plot reasons for him to have to do. Like maybe his old ship is in danger and he feels the need to go because of personal feelings or some aliens are in trouble he made first contact with years ago or something like that. Jason
Book and Vance. I would say Kovich, and as great as Cronenberg is as the character, aside from being mysterious and enigmatic, what is there really to the character?
