Who's already voted?

When I first voted 28 years ago I fell for a November dirty tricks surprise and voted emotionally for the wrong person. Since then every 6 years I vote against her. I do vote early, hopefully I won't fall for the latest October suprise

^There might be...but it's bogged down in minutia.

Honestly...every time I look up a "voter's guide" on judges, all I get is a page where all the issues are marked with something along the lines of "declined to respond to avoid disqualification".

FOR GOODNESS SAKE--if that's all you're going to give me, WHY ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT THESE PEOPLE??? It's a VOTERS GUIDE, and you're not telling me ANYTHING!

I went by their rulings and the reasoning behind them in a lot of cases.
Is there a website with that info? Been looking for something like that for a couple of days now, nothing.

None that I could find. I just did a lot of Googling of their names followed by "ruling," "ruled," "case," "decision," and so forth. The bigger names like the State Supreme Court judges had Wiki pages or were mentioned in Wiki pages about cases they presided over, but that's about it.

For all the ballots and higher offices Ballotpedia is an invaluable resource, however. I had that open on my laptop as I was filling out the voter card so I could research or double-check everything.

Sending in a mail-in or absentee ballot doesn't mean you take anything less seriously or don't enjoy the Democratic process though. It lessens the amount of people standing in line at the polling place and makes it easier for the states to count everything on time too.

It's definetely just good old paranoia in my case, especially after someone told me how he had to destroy a large chunk of unopened ballot mails after one election. Of course, these could have been those that were really too late but somehow I can imagine the administration people in my state being too lazy to count them all and thus declaring them as being too late.
In my rational moments, though, I actually trust the voting process here very much, especially after having been part of it last year. I can only recommend that, by the way, it really gives you a lot more confidence in and respect for the democratic process.

Thanks for clearing that up, Locutus. I would have found it very baffling and disturbing if it had been true. Granted, things work a bit differently in a pure first-past-the-post-system but still, counting all votes seems like one of the fundamentals to me.

I didn't mean to belittle the civic investment of people voting by mail. I was underscoring that many of us seem to enjoy the ritual of showing up at the polling station.

I will mail out my absentee ballot tommorrow. I love voting by mail. Ever since they closed the polling place in my neighborhood (which was within wheelchair distance), voting by mail is a great convience.

I usually colour-coordinate what I'm wearing to my party of choice, for added amusement value. And so the tellers of the other parties don't need to pester me with questions as to who I voted for. :D

 That's too awesome for words.

I've seen people going to the polls with pins or even coloured shirts (something that elicits extremely bad cultural memories for my tastes..), but nothing like this. I guess I should find myself some pinko tie and pocket square. ;)
