Who Would YOU Have Picked As The Cast For The Movie?

Phantron

Ensign

Haven't seen a thread like this since the cast has been finalised, so... I would have gone for

Kirk - Ryan Gosling (he's just cocky enough to carry off the swagger)
Bones - Kiefer Sutherland (does anyone say 'Damnit' better?)
Spock - Ian Somerhalder (he needs platform shoes though)
Scotty - Cillian Murphy (looks good in red)
Sulu - Tony Leung (not exactly Japanese, but a fine actor)
Chekov - Topher Grace (it's like instant Chekov! Just add accent!)
Uhura - Freema Agyeman (she can do it for The Doctor, then she can do it for Trek)

Villain - Kate Mulgrew (I don't think this need any explanation...)

KIRK: Jack Black

SPOCK: Keanu Reeves

McCOY: Liam Neeson

SCOTTY: Viggo Mortenson

UHURA: Jeri Taylor or Liv Tyler

SULU: Laurence Fishburne

CHEKOV: Orlando Bloom

BADGUY: Ian McDiarmid

HENCHMAN: Jim Carey

I reserve the right to be tongue-in-cheek and to cast dead guys. :p It's a fantasy, so let it be on my terms.

Kirk: Charlton Heston
Spock: Yul Brynner
McCoy: John Wayne
Scotty: Richard Burton
Sulu: Tatsuya Nakadai
Chekov: Anatoly Solonitsyn
Pike: Robert Ryan

With Charles Laughton or Peter Ustinov as Nero.

I would've picked myself for Kirk. The rest...who cares about them?

Probably the most honest response to any thread, yet.

And, my feelings, too. If I'm Kirk, then I KNOW it'll get done right!

Then, I'd cast Scarlett Johansson as Spock and we'd have a scene where Kirk and Spock finally give in to all that latent sexual tension that supposedly existed between them.

The rest of the cast? At that point, who cares?

Kirk: Matt Damon
Bones: Morgan Freeman
Spock: Edward Norton

I don't really care about the rest.

Kirk...Jensen Ackles
McCoy...Gary Sinise
Scotty...Paul McGillion
Gary Mitchell...Sean Patrick Flanery
Christopher Pike...Michael Emerson
Elizabeth Dehner...Samantha Morton

That's all I have for now.

Kirk: Matt Damon
Spock: (no idea. Zachary Quinto doesn't seem like a bad idea actually)
McCoy: Gary Sinise
Scotty: Paul McGillion
Uhura: Gabrielle Union
Sulu: Daniel Dae Kim
Chekov: Jordan Bridges (Conviction) or Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes)

And the characters that haven't been picked yet, so I still hope they cast:

Pike: Tom Hanks
Number One: Milena Govich (Conviction, K-Ville)
Captain Garrovick (TOS "Obsession"): Vaughn Armstrong

Kirk: Charlton Heston
Spock: Yul Brynner

Oh what could have been! :D

Kirk - Eion Bailey
Bones - Gary Sinese, I don't care if he's a hundred years old
Spock - Zachary Quinto (well they got one right)
Scotty - PAUL MCGILLION!!!!!!!
Sulu - James Kyson Lee
Uhura - Gabrielle Union
Chekov - the kid they chose seems fine, tho the idea of Milo Ventimiglia attempting a Russian accent fills me with unbounded glee :rommie:

What if the new film was a made-for-SciFi-channel production? I'm thinking it would go a little something like this:

Kirk: Gary Busey
Spock: Kevin Sorbo
McCoy: David Keith
Scotty: Wings Hauser
Uhura: Kim Delaney
Sulu: Lou Diamond Phillips
Chekov: Caspar Van Dien

Chuck Heston as Kirk?!! Inspired choice, I would never have thought of him.

"Get your paws off me you damn dirty Klingon!"

I would say as a close second, Gregory Peck as Kirk (ever seen him as Horatio Hornblower?)

Spock: Anthony Perkins
McCoy: Jimmy Stewart
Scotty: George Kennedy(have no idea if he could do a Scottish accent, but that's the kind of role he always played in the Airport movies. He just got that kind of attitude).
Sulu/Chekov/Uhura? I'm drawin' a blank.

Pike:I still say Ray Liotta

Villain: Humphrey Bogart (okay, we can dream!)

Kirk: Jensen Ackles
Spock:: Zachary Quinto
McCoy: Gary Sinese
Scotty: Paul McGillion
Uhura: Megalyn Echikunwoke
Sulu: James Kyson Lee

Kirk - Matt Damon
Spock - Quinto
Scotty - Ewan McGregor
Uhura - Thandy Newton
McCoy - Gary Sinise
Sulu - Daniel Wu
Chekov - Cillian Murphy

Villian - Karl Urban
Random Klingon - Michael Dorn

KIRK: Tom Cruise

SPOCK: Anthony Edwards

McCOY: Robert Duvall

SCOTTY: Billy Connolly

UHURA: Thandie Newton

SULU: Ken Watanabe

CHEKOV: Jonathan Rhys Meyers

BADGUY: Val Kilmer and Dougray Scott

HENCHMAN: Tim Robbins and Tom Skerrit

Can't say I have, but yes, I do see the 'Kirk as Peck' resemblance (Gentleman's Agreement is proof enough he can get the serious, moralising element of the character down pat.)

I'll admit the main reason Heston sprung to mind - as I suspect Temis the Vorta concluded - was because of the wonderful onscreen chemistry he had with Yul Brynner in The Ten Commandments. Brynner's the perfect Spock in my mind - boundless charisma and screen presence, an exotic allure and a precisioned timbre of voice. He could get Spock's rational mind and the tempest of emotions roaring restrained beneath the surface.

And Charlton Heston's one heck of a leading man too. I could listen to his voice all day. It'd be even sweeter if he was saying 'Space. The final frontier...', naturally. ;)

Ronald Reagan was a runner-up for McCoy. No, seriously. Watch Storm Warning sometime.

Spock: Anthony Perkins
McCoy: Jimmy Stewart

I can so see that, especially Perkins. :)

Sulu/Chekov/Uhura? I'm drawin' a blank.

I simply picked Japanese and Russian actors from around this period I really liked. Tatsuya Nakadai in particular as a langurous screen presence. Clueless about Uhura myself, as well...

Villain: Humphrey Bogart (okay, we can dream!)

Ha, that'd be neat.

If anyone didn't get the gag much, I picked Peter Ustinov and/or Charles Laughton to play Nero... because they both have played the Emperor of the same name, in Quo Vadis! and The Sign of the Cross, respectively.
