Who would win in a war? Farsacpae vs Star trek?

I specifically mean Peacekeepers vs Federation, I don't just mean the technology, but more the tactics and what each soldier is willing to do to win. I think the peacekeeprs bc I have rarely seen any trek soldier or citizen willing to kill without some great moral infighting while a peacekeeper would pull the trigger ad not even care, I think that cold mindset would give the peacekeepers a great advantage.

Easily the Federation. They have a better chain of command and less fragmentary, paranoic leadership. There's not a single major crisis we ever see Peacekeepers involved in which doesn't involve different commanders fighting each other for power - be that Scorpius deposing Crais, Grayza deposing Scorpius, or even Grayza basically making herself the leader of the Peacekeepers. It's a cutthroat system that produces more disaffected ex-Peacekeepers of dubious loyalty than it retains valuable talent - which the Federation tucks away abundantly.

They've also got a considerable edge on the science end of things, which is useful for any situation where brute force is not the be all and end all of all solutions (one of the reasons in the end they won out against a similar strictly militaristic power, the Klingons).

Haven't watch the show in over the year so my info might be a bit dodgy, but I don't recall getting a an idea how large the Peacekeeper military is, though we know they can't match it with the Scarans and that they can pull together a dozen or so of their command carriers to slog it. They might only "keep the peace" over a dozen or so system, so they might not have the military capacity to match the Federation, which is 150+ worlds over 8,000ly.

As for technology, they lack some of the groovy gadgets of the Federation: transporters and replicators, but their weapons and shields might be equal or better than the Feds for all we know.

As for tactics, Farscape is little a WWII naval battle with large battleships forming lines and hammering each other at range while faster, smaller craft fight for the space between and nibble away at the large ships if they can. While Trek is more like a fighter dogfight with ships jinking and spinning around for superior positions.

In Farscape they don't seem to grasp the "Space is 3-Dimensional" thing. They always line up in a line with ships to blast each other instead of below or on top of each other.

Eh, with a few exceptions, Star Trek has never been very good about this either.

Been a while since I watched Farscape, but the main offenseive weapon of a PK command carrier appeared to be the Frag Cannons, which could be somesort of rail gun. Which at best is hypersonic speeds.

Lets examine Starfleet weapon. Main weapons Photon/Quantum torpedeos. Which are FTL and Phasers, Which are Light Speed.

So it sounds as if Starfleet ships have a greater offensive reach than the PK ships, I.e. they can hit them, whilst being out of reach of PK guns. So got to give it Starfleet.

The Federation would seem to have the upper hand but then, they'd start with their talking, and after two or three minutes, Ayren would jump up and scream "frell this dren!" and start shooting everything in sight.

So the Peacekeepers would win.

Peacekeepers would win because their ships have superior firepower and I believe the shields of a command carrier could withstand gigaton level firepower while comparable federation ships only deal in the low to mid megaton range. Not to mention peacekeeper society is geared towards war and combat while the feds barring ships like Defiant or Prometheus weaponry is more of an afterthought.

It's been a while since I saw Scape, but do they have transporter tech? If not, that alone should give the Feddies an edge. Transporters can be used offensively in very creative ways that we haven't much seen from Trek...

Also, the Scape writers don't mollycoddle the PKs the way Trek writers do for the Feds, who Always Win(TM).

Farscape has no transporters, and they barely have shields.

But they do have universe-destroying wormhole weapons.

The PK's would eventually be forced to re-use battle footage or use stock footage while the Federation could just create new ships the PK's didn't have footage of, therefore couldn't destroy.

Nope. The Federation is a moneyless system.

It's a toss up for me. Although, I think the Feds would have more firepire, I think the PK's have more strategy skills and could use what they have to their advantage.

Of course, when it's all said and done, the Feds have techno babble, PK's have Frell and hesmana. So we see who has the best comebacks....definitely PK's!
