I kind of had a soft spot for Nyssa back in the day. What keeps me awake at night is the question of whether the TARDIS translation matrix kept working for her indefinitely after Terminus or one day she lost that ability and had to learn the local language. 
Tegan was pretty awesome, a classic companion who made her mark on the show.
Adric gets the pity vote.
Grace was an interesting companion, maybe a proto-NuWho one, being an adult and extremely competent.
I've liked most of the NuWho companions; actually, probably all of the main ones. Rose, Amy and Clara have all been immensely watchable. Liked Martha too.

Me too. She was my favourite "new who" companion.
It is such a shame the way they ended her run on the show though. That was the lousiest writing and heartbreaking. At least when a companion had died in the past they had died but this was worse then that.
I still can't stand Amy and Rose. Am I alone in this?
And no one's mentioned Peri ...
Um...
I liked Peri a good deal. I think she worked well with the 6th Doctor, even when they had a more argumentative relationship.

And its probably sacrilege, but I'm not all that keen on Sarah Jane. She's competent, but I don't understand why she's so worshipped....maybe compared to all the female companions before her she was a nice change...but in the overall picture, I don't get it.
