Batman '66 has pretty much been part of my life since I can remember, it's just kind of background. But now my wife has started watching it and I'm sort of seeing it anew, through her. And I've been comparing the SGV performers.

Let's face it, this is really a "big four" contest, with maybe a couple extras in contention, but I've tried to pad the list out for multiple appearances and performers. So if you're a fan of, say, Chandell or Lola Lasagna, please vote by posting. And please, let us know why you voted the way you did. Thanks!

For me, it's really a toss up between Gorshin and Romero. In the end I voted for Gorshin but it could have gone either way. Newmar would come in a close 2nd.

That was a tough one. But I think the Riddler out-did the Joker. Gorshin just seemed to put more into the character, especially in that pilot (wish the series overall had been more like the pilot).

Romero comes second. Tied for that is King Tut.

And despite how he reportedly terrorized the cast so badly he wasn't invited back, Ott made an excellent Mr. Freeze.

I also have to go for Gorshin. He brought a kind of bizarre energy to the character, which could really seem maniacal. I would put Meredith at number 2, Newmar at 3 and Romero at 4, mostly based on how they handled the humor. But it's a really close race, next week I might see an episode and change my mind.

Preminger was the best Mr. Freeze, I agree.

I had to go with Romero's Joker. I thought he did a great job of giving us a light, goofy Joker.
As for overall ranking of my favorites, I'd go:
Caesar Romero
Frank Gorshin
Burgess Meredith/Julie Newmar

George Sanders' Mr. Freeze--a perfect mix of intelligence and sinister personality traits, and not the send-up clown seen in Preminger and Wallach's performances. Sanders was what a true comic-to-screen supervillain should be, along with--

Newmar's Catwoman. She defined the live action version, with all others not even coming in a distant last place. Her first episode(s) was a close to a perfect Catwoman filmed media has ever seen.

I have to agree. I'm a fan of George Sanders in general so I always preferred his Freeze over the others.
Newmar remains my favorite Catwoman to this day. Kitt comes in at the bottom for me. Just slightly above Halle Berry

I voted for Catwoman/Julie Newmar. Meow.

For second place, it's a toss-up between Joker and Penguin.

I went with Newmar's Catwoman. When I was a girl, I thought she was just the coolest thing I'd ever seen.

Huh. Looking back, I think Batman/Catwoman may have been the first ship I ever shipped! I thought Batman should totally be her boyfriend, as she asked him to.

They really need to get Julie Newmar on Gotham some time as Selina's grandmother or great-grandmother. A while back I saw a video of her and Camren Bicondova on a talk show together and they were great.
