OK, let's be honest here. Who here still sleeps with a stuffed animal or doll? I'll admit I'm "guilty." I've also broken this down by gender, too. Don't worry--the poll is anonymous, so you don't have to own up to it by name if you don't want to. Before anyone tries to go there, please note that the following do not count: --Any erotic items --People --Pets
I think most males in America don't sleep with stuff animals because the culture doesn't really care for it.
I have my original baby blanket I was wrapped in after I was born. It is 45 years old and looks like a tattered rag, but I refuse to get rid of it.
I forget where I heard it, but apparently hotel cleaning staffs figured out that more guys than you would expect did still have stuffed animals because they found them in rooms. And the hotels would be able to figure out who had those rooms. But to me, that's in the category of gender stereotypes I don't care about. Some things popular culture gets so bent out of shape about are so stupid!
Please see the criteria at the top of the thread, put there juuuuuust for people who might think to say stuff like you.
While i still have my stuffed animal, i don't sleep with it. I do, however, have a pillow i use to cuddle up with.
Yeah, I have my favorite stuffed animal (less a lot of his stuffing over the years) in a box, but I haven't slept with him since grade school.
Dennis, my lemur, sits on top of my bedhead, and Bexley, my teddy bear is meant to be on my bed beside me but i usually find him on the floor in the morning. I think one of my cats pushes him off during the night.
When I was travelling every week for work, my youngest, who was 5 at the time wouldn't let me leave without taking one of his stuffed animals in my suitcase. He was afraid I'd get lonely on the road.
Actually the cat concerned is my big, wussy, mama's boy, tomcat called Spider. It couldn't be Chicken as, until he recently moved to Queensland, Chicken preferred to sleep in my son's room. The bear has been ending up on the floor for years and i know it isn't me pushing him off the bed. I used to have a kitten called Dexter who used to carry one of my toy monkeys around the house.
I own a bunch of stuffed animals-- in fact, I still have my original stuffed rabbit that I got in 1962-- but I don't sleep with any of them. I do occasionally fall asleep with a book, though, if that counts.
No stuffed animals here, mate. But for the record, i have a sword hanging on the wall over me bed and i have a Model P within arms reach of the bed. I have to open the safe to load it though. I'm bonkers, but i'm not that bonkers.
