Who makes the best hard drives?

I built my current machine with 2 - 500GB Samsungs (1 for OS, 1 for media & apps), never a problem in 2 years.

I replaced #2 with a 1.5TB Seagate about 1 year ago, no problem with it either, and it's being used as a media storage drive. Always watching movies & TV shows, other videos and listening to music stored on it. Also, it has all my apps on it now.

The #2 500GB has been used since for a dual boot of Win7 (beta/RC), with less use than before. I'll switch it back to #1 when I put Win7 on it for good in a couple weeks.

It is not really worth the trouble and cost I am guessing for the upgrade. We can use it without the burner and I can just by a new notebook.

:wtf: If you say so, dude.

Ok so you are saying that it would be cheaper and easier to install a dvd burner into my notebook, than it would be to just purchase an external usb one for the rare occasion I need to burn a DVD and also will be able to use on a netbook when I get around to purchasing one?

Cheaper? No. Easier? Well, normally all you have to do is remove a screw or two and the old drive pops right out. I don't see that as something that's exceedingly difficult.

If you don't mind having to lug around an external drive, whatever. I'm just saying it's not exactly difficult to replace one that's crapped out in a laptop. If you have other uses for an external, knock yourself out. That's why I'm getting one.

You just made it sound like you weren't doing it because you thought it was difficult!

Well since it is not cheaper then I will stop there. You still have to open the thing up, while not difficult still not as easy as plugging in a usb cable. And I am not lugging the thing around. I doubt it leaves my desk.
