I think it would do more NOT to point it out. A name is enough to make the point if the person is female, and a picture if they are a member of a minority ethnicity. Anything more than that strikes me as a little blunt, and potentially uncomfortable for the person in question. I know I wouldn't like someone making a specific point about my gender or ethnic background, as if it were a handicap, on national or even local TV.
