Who Here Meditates?

I used to meditate a lot when I was younger, before my first foot surgery especially. Now since both surgeries and the twisting pelvis I've found it incredibly difficult to focus even to the point of focusing letting go if that makes any sense. Have been thinking recently about returning to meditation as a means of distracting myself and managing the pain better, does anyone have any suggestions for me? Like music, etc?

It's weird, meditation is one of those things that I want to do, but I never seem to find time for it. I guess the closest is just taking a hot bath and the end of the day. On those rare times when I can forget about everything else in the world, it feels fantastic.

I do sometimes...gotten lazy though. You should look through YT...lotta good stuff on there.

I don't really meditate, but I practice martial arts and I've come to see it as meditation in motion, since it helps me to clear my head and find my physical and psychological balance. If you have problem focusing on just meditation, I would suggest you to try some kind of soft art, like tai chi chuan or some wu shu schools. Yoga is a good advice, too.

try to meditate, not easy at home so when the weathers nice i'll go down to the river and just stare into the water for hours sometimes.
not sure if that counts but after that i feel a lot better

Yes, I meditate often. For music, I cannot recommend Jonathan Goldman highly enough. His music is superb for deep, relaxing, rejuvenating meditation, particularly "Chakra Chants". I think it's his best work, and it does what it sets out to do, which is to heal the mind and body by sound.

I do it in the Colm-Meaney-in-Layer-Cake sense of the term. Utilize a mundane task to allow the rest of the brain to relax and absorb.

I've done and taught meditation for a number of years. Although recently I've been sloughing a bit...

I've tried off and on for years, mainly because I'd like to master lucid dreaming; but my mind is way too active to get into a meditative state. :(

This might sound condescending, and I swear it's not, but it's easier than you think. I could take you through it and you would be in a state of meditation in no time. Shoot, I'm to the point now where I can meditate while driving (but I don't!).

Okay, go ahead. I'm listening to Jonathan Goldman right now on YouTube, so I've got a head start. :rommie:

I used to meditate every day, sometimes two or three times a day. But my mom caught me doing it in the bathroom once and I haven't been able to do it since. :(

I meditate ever day and love it. I find it very freeing and calming. I also use it for building positive energy and releasing negative.

But here lately I have been having trouble focusing. I can do the relaxation and have no issue ordering my thoughts but I haven't been able to activate my chakras in over a month. I have been having trouble channeling energy too. Something is off and I don't know what it is. Does anyone else use this type of meditation? Anyone else had trouble like this?

I also dabble in directed dreaming meditation. Has anyone here tired it? It is rather wonderful and I would highly recommend it once or twice a week. (I find it very useful in stimulating inspiration for my design work and painting.)

I also used to mediate for creative clarity and motivation. I've been checking out yoga but have to clear it with my doctor and physio first, used to also take Tai Chi about ten years ago and really enjoyed that.
