so i used to be really into Star Wars Jedi Outcast and that was the first game i took seriously: i was a part of a clan with our own dedicated host. i really enjoyed battlefront 1 and battlefront 2 was decent, but i have no clue if these games still have any community. in the first few weeks of launch of battlefront 1 i recall literally everyone would try to be on the side of the Empire in the battle of hoth. does anyone still play? i was just wondering what other games are out there that still have a strong following. which star wars game has a following now? thanks
Probably none. The most recent Star Wars games released have no online multiplayer modes available. The last one that springs to mind is probably BF2. As far as I know, everyone is looking forward to the release of The Old Republic.
Did someone say "The Old Republic"? Is there some new news?!?! Please I MUST KNOW!!! <starts having a panic attack> pa- pap- paper- ba- bag! ca- can't- bre- breathe! <full on wheezing now> <fainting slump to the floor>
I don't know. Can't you use wikipedia or something? A 20 second search (YES, TWENTY SECONDS) found that Galaxies is still live. Albeit in a much more quiet state than it was.
It depends what system you play it on. Xbox is completely dead, since well, Microsoft turned off the original Xbox Live. The PS2 version of SWBF1 is completely dead online but SWBF2 still has about 4 full (24man) servers daily. The PC version of both are still pretty active online, at least 7 full (32man+) servers daily.
Where's my angry face? The one that doubts Battlefront 3 will ever get released!!!11 There it is Anyway, The Force Unleashed was such a slap in the face for a hardcore Battlefront fan such as myself. Can you imagine how strong BF3 would be on 360 or PS3? Great to hear PS2 still has their goddamn servers up. Honestly, Xbox what the fuck. That's a rant for another thread (servers eliminating online versions of games forever.... have you ever heard of retro gaming, you bean counting douchbags!!1)
It's an MMO, which means completely multiplayer. Probably pay-to-play though. No guarantees on the quality, but the hype in the gaming world means it'll certainly have a large community for the first month at least.
Speaking of TOR, there's a new video out, a cinematic: http://www.theforce.net/topstory/story/E3_Coverage_Of_SW_The_Old_Republic_138674.asp It seems very deriative of the original trilogy (Except on a larger scale), but I think that's part of what they're going for.
the reason the republic and imp troopers look the way they do is because they look familiar to people who do not read the EU. Its because of marketing. Abot the trailer... Was the smuggler hiding his guns after the arrest?
