ENTERPRISE! it's not the best, but it's my FAV!
This one goes out to Star Trek.
For the benefit of clarity, that's the one where Kirk began as a nerdish stack of books with legs, who only much later - grew up to womanise his way across the galaxy...
a half-human, half Vulcan science officer, who served a Captain Pike for 11 years, 4 months, and 5 days before he became disabled after a space disaster
and
an old fashioned country Doctor whose nickname originates from an ancient forces term for an M.D., one who usually had to amputate on the battlefield.

NCC, I'm laughing at the superior hypocrisy. 
I think TNG was the best. I believe it expanded and improved on what was started with Star Trek, and everything that came after was just following its model into darker territory, and none of the subsequent Star Trek series ever came close to equalling it in consistency and richness of characters (although DS9 wasn't far off at times). I think it may get overlooked sometimes because Star Trek came before and because DS9 was bold enough to go in directions it would never dare, but as safe and often predictable as it was, I still think it was finest of all the series.

Star trek was good for what it is.. for 1960's the writing wasn't great but it did deal in its own way the current day issues. Ones that were VERY taboo... and it did introduce things that were new and fresh that gave a positive outlook on the world to come and alot of it has come to pass...
NG and the others just capitilized on the better writing and special affects.
We have 200 years tho before ANY of the Trekkie is going to occur anyway if it does at all... We need to bring the world together as one and stand as one.. for all of man-kind and for all nations help each other into space. BEFORE anything happens like this...
We already blew it for 2001: A space odyssey, exploring the galaxy or colonizing the moon... We just now have finished the space station, but of course this is something...
Man kind has to put aside war and stop the fighting. Al-Kaida and the muslum nations and the arabic nations won't stand for that so don't count on it happening anytime soon.
What it may take IS our almost extinction to wake us the hell up and a visit from a far off race from space (as portrayed in First contact) to bring about a significant change.
We can only see and that is far past my life... but for the future we need to start the process of healing. We have started that with Obama and the earth going green... another significant event.
There is hope...

Hawkeye, this isn't your fault because you're new and maybe I shouldn't even bring this up, but...is anybody besides me a bit tired of polls about which one is "better"? We have these all the time - every few weeks.
And then one poll will spawn another poll on a slightly different subject, but that too will be a lot like one we had a few weeks' back.
And then someone will become annoyed because the poll isn't turning out the way he/she likes it, so a different poll will be started except that it too will be a lot like one we just had a few weeks' back.
And then people in one or all of these poll threads will quit talking about why they like their favorite Trek and instead start slamming other Treks, just as people did a few weeks back.
And then the people (and this could very well be me ) whose favorite Trek or Treks have been slammed will slam back, just as people did a few weeks back.
And then one of the "less popular" Treks will get what some people think is an unsuitable number of votes, and fans of other Treks will accuse the "less popular" Trek fans of unfairness, just as people did a few weeks back.
And then...And then...And then...
I like all of them (except ENT, and even ENT had its good points) for different reasons. So I'm not going to pick. But you guys have fun.

I voted for the original Star Trek, of course. It will always be my favorite.
Without those three things the series wouldn't have been enjoyable at all. In fact, I refuse to watch any episode where they are not mentioned!

DS9 got me hooked!
DS9 gets my vote. The writing was best on that series.

Don't feel bad, I have said that alot too, and I don't take any offense to it, because nine times out of ten, I agree with you. The only reason I posted this is because I am by trek standereds extreamly new to the shows.
