Which novel contains this Q/Sisko/Picard reference?

Reading over DS9's TvTropes page:

Did You Just Punch Out Q: Commander Sisko, when Q tried playing a prank of a boxing match.
-Q: "You hit me! Picard never hit me!"
-Sisko: "I'm not Picard."

This is later referenced in one of the TNG novels involving Q, with Picard noting that Q didn't return to DS 9 after that incident. Picard says (only half-jokingly) that if he knew punching Q would prevent him from returning, he'd have done it at Farpoint.

In what novel does Picard say this?

When I first saw the subject line, I thought it might be referring to this bit in my eBook Enterprises of Great Pitch and Moment, the final installment of the Slings and Arrows miniseries, where Picard and Sisko are chatting, initially about Worf, and then about Q:

"Right after we took the Enterprise-D out, we had to separate the saucer. I gave Worf command of the saucer section while I proceeded to the battle bridge. He didn't take it well."

"I can imagine. Course set for B'Leva." Sisko engaged the impulse engines. "Worf's like a kid in a candy store with the Defiant."

"Not surprising." Picard's half-smile became a full one. "Right after that, Worf almost blasted a hole in the main viewer when Q's face appeared in it."

"I've met Q, I don't blame him."

"Yes, I heard about that. I must apologize."

That confused Sisko. "Why?"

"Q—" Picard hesitated. "I always felt he was my responsibility. That if it weren't for me, he wouldn't be making so much trouble for Starfleet."

"He hasn't been around since that first time." Sisko smiled. "Probably because I decked him."

Sisko wished he had an imager to capture the expression on Picard's face. "I beg your pardon?" the other captain said incredulously.

"I decked him," Sisko repeated proudly. "Didn't help matters any—but it felt good."

"I shall have to remember that."

Sisko tried to imagine Picard decking Q as Sisko had. The image wouldn't take.
Enjoyed writing that sequence, I did.... :)

I like that Sisko/Picard piece; you can 'hear' Stewart and Brooks going back and forth.

Well-written...

Thank you! :bolian:

^ I haven't read that book, shame to say. When is it set, Keith?
Shortly before First Contact. The Slings and Arrows miniseries covers the first year of the Enterprise-E's existence. (Among other things, it takes place prior to The Q-Continuum, so it works with Greg's bit. :) )

^ Cool. Afraid I've been off the Treklit boil for a while and I've never been a big e-reader but I'd like to check that out. Thanks for the quick reply. And yes, as the man said, well-written.

This has reminded me of the fact that there are still E-Books that never saw Conventional Printing...

Other than Slings & Arrows, were there any other books or stories that I may have missed. I have nothing against E-books mind you, I just never downloaded any of them...

The final eight eBooks of the Corps of Engineers series still haven't been collected into book form yet.

Nor has The Magic of Tribbles, Pocket's one ebook-only foray into nonfiction, about the making of "Trials and Tribble-ations."
