    Is it in development hell?

Why hasn't there been a 4th movie? I thought Beyond did well at the box office.

I really liked the scene where Scotty tried to communicate with the pc by speaking into the mouse. "Hello computer".

    You guys............... "sigh"

I was expecting another Trek movie after Star Trek Beyond, that was the 3rd movie. I'm not calling it Reboot Trek or JJ Trek it's Star Trek

It didn't do as well as the last two Trek movies, so there wasn't a big rush to do another one, IMO. But the latest reports are that there are two Trek movies in development in the same way there have been multiple Marvel and Star Wars movies in development simultaneously. Now it's presumably a case of putting things together to get started, but a director has been chosen for the next movie though.

Still looking at late 2019 at the earliest more likely 2020.

As others have said Beyond wasn't exactly a hit.

    From Box Office Mojo

    BEY - US$343m (budget US$185)
    STID - US$467m (budget US$190)
    ST09 - US$386 (budget US$150)

It's likely the next ST film will have a budget closer to that of ST09 than BEY.
