Just thought I'd give a few words of warning to anyone planning on buying this (excellent, IMHO) miniseries on DVD:
- The copies that Amazon.com has in stock right now, are DVD-Rs. I don't know why they did that, but there we are. (Not only are they DVD-R, but they have no chapter stops of any kind, *and* they aren't even in widescreen - although the packaging says they are. Look at the second review listed here) If you want "real" DVDs, you're either gonna have to wait till September 30 (when the set is actually released), or buy directly from the Discovery Channel webstore.
- The Blu-Ray version is also in stock (on discovery.com) but it costs $79.95. When the set is released to the public on 9/30, it'll be 30 bucks cheaper.
FWIW.
Oh, by the way, this series really does kick ass. It's an excellent companion piece to From the Earth to the Moon; where that series *dramatized* the race into space, and did a damn fine job of it, WWLE is all archive footage (with narration by Gary Sinise). They even got Neil Armstrong himself to do some commentary!
