When in TOS do we actually see Spock doing exec duties?

Holopat

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
As opposed to Science Officer duties. I don't mean taking the con, which Scotty and others do when required, but acting as an Exec? I think there are precious few....but maybe my memory is bad.

I suppose when Spock challenges Kirk's actions in the Conscience of the King - questioning Kirk's shifting Keven Riley's duties around, that explosive scene in Kirk's quarters when McCoy actually defends Spock to Kirk for doing "his job" might be one. I remember him going around with a clipboard in Balance of Terror, checking on ...auxiliary control? Giving Stiles and opportunity to vent some xenophobia.
But I'm curious what others remember of Spock doing an exec's duties.

Corbomite Maneuver- He oversees battle-readiness drills and the crew effective ratings
Conscience of the King- He demonstrates administrative responsibility for ship cargo and passengers
Shore Leave- he helps to organize shore parties and tricks Kirk into going planetside
Obsession- He works with McCoy to address Kirk's potentially abnormal and inappropriate behavior
The Enterprise Incident- (even though it was a ruse) Spock is acting as the XO and executes certain duties and responsibilities in light of Kirk's violation of the Neutral Zone.
Several instances of being "second in command" of the Enterprise, when Kirk was unavailable or on a landing party
Several instances of leading away missions (Naked Time and Galileo Seven come immediately to mind)

Spock is down in the trenches (assisting engineering personnel) with the digital clipboard in his hands when Kirk returns from Exo 3 earlier than expected in "What Are Sherry Jacksons Made Of?"

In terms of screen time, most of what we see will be Spock doing the living encyclopedia role on the bridge. But even there, Spock may be carrying out administrative duties through his workstation. Those Vulcans can multi-task, y'know.

MCCOY: Shouldn't you be working on your time warp calculations, Mister Spock?
SPOCK: I am.

He's down in Engineering during JTB doing something with the boards there. Since he's not an engineer, and the engine function is not science related presumably he's doing some kind of checking on Scott's reports.

Which seems out of character. One of the last times he tried to help an underling (Stiles in BALANCE OF TERROR) that was similarly followed by dangerous gas-venting. With Garrovick, It's almost as if he read the next act's script and realized his presence would be required.

Heroes are usually on the spot somehow, when it counts. Ask Batman.

The "Balance of Terror" / "Obsession" connection— how did I never think of that? :bolian:
